Yeah, I didn't like 7 or 8 at all! I didn't have them but knew people who did and they didn't like them either. I'm still wondering what happened to Windows 9? MS went straight from 8 to 10.
I completely get what you're saying with having to upgrade most programs when upgrading the OS. Win10 completely screwed me with the simplest of programs. I have several simple games that I like to play and have been playing for decades, but they aren't compatible with Win10, even though I've used them on at least 5 different Windows products. By simple, I mean games like Solitaire, Freecell, Backgammon, Taipei (aka Mahjong), etc. I've found replacements for some of them, but I don't like them as much as the originals I used. Pretty much none of the programs of any type that I have on CD or DVD works on Win10.
