I dove in and I'm trying to reach the surface before drowning! I started a Facebook account and right off the bat I believe I did it incorrectly. My purpose was solely to have another interactive site for my card collecting, but the more I see what I did, the more I think I've set "JRM Card Collection" as a sub-page to a main page under my name. As soon as I set it up I was bombarded with information to connect with church friends, former work associates (some I had to work with but would want to consort with), etc.

I sent one friend request out, and thanks, C2Cigars (Chuck) for friending me, but again I meant for it to be on JRM Card Collection not Joshua Martinez. Any guidance would be helpful.

I'm beginning to feel remorseful over having lost my Facebook virginity now.

BTW, I run several different pages, and because I wanted to set them up differently where email notifications about them didn't go to my personal emails, I had to create dummy profiles as the "admin" of the pages. 

Still used "Steve Rogers" as the name though as FB has a stick up their butt over obvious non-real name as profile names, even if for legit non scamming/spamming/harrassing purposes.  Anyway, since the email address connected to an email that I have on a mobile app with my actual email, some of my actual friends are among suggested friends for that dummy profile. 

So one of my friends notices that one of these dummy pages shows up as a "suggested friend" and messages me that I've been hacked!  Since it was too early in the morning, it took me a while to realize that it was one of the dummy profiles I set up for page adminstration, and not a case of my profile getting hacked! *rolls eyes*

if you hae another page that you manage, you have to invite the people you want to join.  you can also do that by posting the link in your forum post here and then people can go to that page and "Like" it then follow it.

I don't Facebook but if I did I'd like ya!! On that note I did join the twitter page for the TCDB. I put a message up there and see if  Iget any follows. Not that important to me, I still love the good ol WWW. =)

I gave you a like as well. Facebook does not make it easy to run pages. I run a handful. I can't figure out how to post from phone or tablet, only actual computer.

I think the bombardment of messages is a simple matching your email contacts with FB members. The FB algorithm is intended to make connecting with your existing friends, contacts easier but is really borderline creepy.

Thanks for the "Chuck-le". I think I'm getting the hang of things since you opened my eyes early on. I believe I've ended the barrage of family I especially choose to avoid who have asked to be my friends. 

I just want to concentrate on card collecting with this endeavor with my new family, TCDB. Thanks for those who've liked my JRM's Card Collection page, and others please indulge as you are able.
