Fellow sellers - what is your take on this:
A collector is seeking several items. A deal is struck (on a Thursday) and this is sent via private message by the potential buyer to the seller: "i will pay on monday let me check on what else i might need over the weekend".
Monday comes and goes, no communication except from seller to buyer.
Tuesday, nothing from either side.
Wednesday, another message from seller to buyer, no response (but other online activity is seen).
Thursday arrives, and a message from buyer to seller finally comes in. No payment. Just the message: "Of course I still will need cards and sets but sell them if you need to..."
Please let me know how you would handle a situation like this. PM me if you want more details on how much work was involved to pull items, price items, and what kind of deal was being offered - if that even matters to you in a case like this.
Thanks!

If I am the seller I am cautious and make sure I am paid before sending anything.
As far as the time involved in pulling and pricing. I guess that might depend on the situation. If I am a business, it's frustrating but is part of the business. If I am a hobbyist selling to another then the time doesn't really matter. Sure it is once again frustrating that the seller spent time he/she could have used better in some other aspect of the hobby but it's also a hobby. I know I have "wasted" a lot of time sorting and resorting my collection.
Frankly, wheteher a business or a hobbyist if you feel you are owed something for your time spent pulling or sorting cards you are in the wrong business/hobby. It is a regular aspect of card collecting.
That's my view on it.

You're not getting paid. Move on. These are not the actions of someone who is actually following through with a deal.

Funny, I'm just taking time to clean and straighten my cards~~~I found 10 different boxes of cards I spent time pulling not even pricing....never a follow thru, never sent. I agree very frustrating, and alot of time wasted. And more time wasted adding them back to your inventory. I'm learning the hardway, and find multiple communications helps a lot.

This is a hobby but on both sides of the transaction. We want to help each other out but in a case like this, the buyer is very inconsiderate of the seller. People like this anger me as well and definitely will not be considered in future trades or transactionsof any kind. Personally this is one of those proverbial "few bad apples" that we find even here on this great site.
I have had similar instances when selling stuff on FB Marketplaceor Kijiji where the communication ends abruptly without explanation. Timely communications is key in all transactions. If you can't simply do that small part on this site, then don't bother others who respect the community.

I don't do drama... but I explained to you first that I wanted to go through my collection to see what else I might need, Yes a lot changed over the weekend and I did not get to finish sorting through the my cards and acquired a very large collection yesterday... still not having time to finish going through my cards to see what I might need... I am sorry we did not complete the deal yet but stuff happens and things get delayed I said I would still buy them but I wanted to go though my collection prior to it... nothing has changed other than the DATE... I even said if you had another buyer to sell to them... I do not know Trading Cards Hobby Etiquette but learning quickly Again I said I was sorry, I said if you had another buyer to go ahead and sell it... I even said I would still buy them but at a later date...

I did eveything possible to keep the buying party anonymous. I wasn't pointing fingers, and I was simply stating facts, and seeking advice from fellow sellers to see if how I wanted to proceed was warranted.
I am in agreement with you regarding drama, and I'm not going to discuss this with you on the boards - this isn't the place for that. I'm sorry if I made you feel as though you needed to defend yourself, but this could have been about anyone. I kept your name out of it, and I never mentioned the large purchase over the weekend as I thought that might give away your identity. That was never my intention.
However, I think you now see what others feel about what transpired. If you wish to discuss further, please use PM.

I'm in a pretty good mood so my advice to both.
vrooomed I believe your post was meant to vent a bit. It is frustrating whenever you put time into a transaction and then the transaction is not completed. Heck, I have had large proposals where I have spent a good hour matching wants and needs that then fall through. Part of the reason why I try to focus on smaller deals now. The frustration is understandable but these things will happen from time to time.
Garrison has jumped back into the hobby with both feet as I have been following along with his posts. I frankly would be a little leary of trying to deal with him right now because I can see from his posts that he is taking on way too much at one time. When I started trading on here about a year ago I was trying to do too much trading all it one time and got way to busy so I understand. I would say that if you want to continue dealing with TCDB members here though that if you don't follow through your options are going to diminish rather quickly. Whether you still need all the cards or not it would probably be best to just pay for what you agreed for to complete the transaction and close this issue out. I know I would complete the purchase becasue I had agreed to and move on. Asking the other member to now wait just isn't something I would do.
I wish the best two the both of you as you resolve this transaction.

BSwagger - I really was trying to see what other sellers would do in this situation (in a moving forward-type way). Not a vent. If it came off that way, sorry. It was info seeking only.
