Hey Billy, would you rather have 3 -5 inches forcast then get the 24 inches?

I'd rather have the 24 inches. I love snow. (as long as the power stays on)

Mostly just ice here. My out-of-town friends had to cancel on trivia night.  A co-worker broke her foot. So 3 of 8 showed up for our team.  We combined with a table of teachers who had room, and we won!

Well that is because we teachers rule! LOL!

Here it has snowed all day (Georgetown Ontraio), but the biggest worry would be blowing snow among the lonely country roads 

I'm glad to not have to join the conversation this time! Only rain in the forecast for this one in central NC. After nearly a foot of snow in early December and a quarter-inch of freezing rain (with 1.5 inches of actual rain) last weekend, I'm tired of stuff falling from the sky. Not to mention that 2018 was the wettest year in recorded history here. It broke the 15-year-old record by about 2 inches and beat the 110-year-old record by over 4 inches. It's raining now, but the rain should push out before the really cold air gets in here on Sunday.

All I want is for the sky to be clear Sunday night so I can see the total lunar eclipse. I don't care how cold it is b/c I missed the last 2 eclipses visible here b/c of clouds. This eclipse is visible across all of the Americas. Partial phase starts before 9:30pm EST 1/20 and total phase starts around 12:30am EST 1/21. Anyone who wants to see the moon turn red should check it out!

Boston Mass. has only a dusting of snow so far.

It is finally snowing here. Have about 4 inches of snow. Forecast still calls for 5-8 and ice atop it.

You are welcome Billy. I've been trying to spread the word b/c the media is doing a horrible job in most places. My local meteorologist said on Friday night that we should have clear skies here by the time it starts. You'd think something with the name of "Super Blood Wolf Moon" would spread like wildfire in the media across the nations before the actual date of occurence.

To break that down in simple terms that are factual instead of misleading...

* Super Moon refers to the Full Moon when it is closest to Earth in its orbit. That happens a few times each year and the moon only appears 14% larger in the sky than when it's farthest from Earth.

* Wolf Moon is a very old term for the January Full Moon.

* Blood Moon is a description for when the moon passes through the darkest part of the Earth's shadow. It usually turns orange to red based on timing and how deep into the shadow it goes. Think of the Sun's color when it is rising or setting. Those colors wrap around the atmosphere and project onto the moon when it is deep in our shadow.

I do hope many TCDB members venture out to look at it tonight. No equipment other than your eyes are needed to see it, but some optical aides enhance it. I plan to take some pictures with just my camera. I might attempt a photo through my small telescope too. If I get anything I'm really happy with, I'll certainly share it here.
