I've had a couple
of friends show me
a picture of a
dress in the news
(it is being shown
on tv as well) and
ask me what colors
I thought it was. I
immediately
answered gold and
white, while one of
my friends insisted
it was black and
blue. I wonder if I
saw gold because
I'm used to seeing
what gold scans
like on cards and
just recognized it
because of that.
Has anyone else
seen this and
thought the same?

The first time I saw it I saw white and some kind of dingy brown. Today its is more of a blue and still a sort of ugly brown. A lot of it has to do with your monitor's settings. The old "blue ice" thing while looking at a winter snow scene.

Since I took part in this survey, now let me ask: What does this have to do with cards?

First, it is in the
off-topic forum,
second, the card-
related thought, I
wondered since I've
scanned gold and
had them come out
near black, whether
that is why I
immediately thought
gold and wondered
if anyone else
experienced the
same.

Actually, armac
makes a good point.
The "dress colors"
could be card
relrvant. A few
threads back, I
asked about a Jerry
Stackhouse card
that the printing
on my card is gold,
but all I can find
in the DB is a
black printed card.
Any thoughts on
dress colors and
scanned cards?

I think it relates directly to card scans. I've done a lot of cropping/reviewing and have seen what I know is supposed to be pure white card stock looking grey. This is one of those pet peeves that irk me. The people scanning aren't taking to time to make scanner adjustments when needed. I always take the extra time to adjust the scans to look as close to true as possible. The camera or scanner can never take the place of the human eye.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.
