Since there has been so much debate on "Other Collectibles" being listed, coupled with the overwhelming popularity of TCDB ....maybe we need to expand. What we could  do is move any non-card item to another site specifically for items that don't meet TCDB card criteria. Please read on.

Pros & Cons:

1. We would need ADMIN's "permission" and grace as well as being able to link the new Other Collectibles site to the TCDB.

2. We keep all our members happy, and maybe draw in others.

3. I'm suggesting, BUT do not have enough of the computer skills to do it myself. However, if we had a "Team of  Programmers" in our membership that would be interested in taking on this project like ADMIN did with the TCDB, we could get it up and running. 

4. Hopefully, we can then separate the CARDs from the OTHER COLLECTIBLES....and end the gray areas of what to list where. Yet keep ALL COLLECTIBLES within a click.

I'm sure there are more Pros & Cons.....Comment, Suggest, Question, reply with your thoughts. I would be willing to spearhead the project idea, just don't have the expertise to do it. IF you are really computer savvy and know your way around programming send me a PM. We'll see what develops.

Oh and I'm not asking ADMIN or Levels to necessarily join the project, just a "go for it" is necessary, of course unless they want to. ADMIN and the levels continue to work on making TCDB the best there is!!! LMK.

Interesting. But when you write "Other Collectibles"  What does that include and not include? That question alone, could last a lifetime figuring out what counts and what does not. Do you let the complainers get their way when something is not included. The time it will take, to making everyone happy, no one lives that long. Some people think them fast-food toys are collectibles. How many years will it take just to get through them alone?  Like this website, like all websites. You have to draw a line and say that is all we will do. TCDB it's in the name it tell you what the website is about.

I really think TCDB does not need to be connected to other collectible sites. We trade cards here and that is the bottom line and all we need to know when at the site. But that is just my thinking. It will be intresting to see what other write.

Same here. I joined this site because it's a TRADING CARD website and NOT a collectibles website.

I like the idea but my head is going to hurt with some of the members con's. 

I truly believe of collectables could be included here as for checklists then they would have to be added like others checklists for cards are. Same situation in my opinion. But who am I? 

Back to my sorting and head hurting. 

Some types of collectibles already have websites. 

 I am happy the way things are....one man's opinion.

I am perfectly happy the way things are here. I’m even a little surprised at the things that count as “cards” here, like various coin inserts, etc. I have no complaints, and would have no problem with a straight up “cards only” rule — the exact opposite of this post. 

That said, I have only one other collection, and I have only a few sports-related non-card collectibles. So my opinion is a bit biased. And if someone wants to create a Collectibles Database, more power to them.

Just so I understand.  You want someone to help you set up another site of other collectables that are not cards or cards not supported here.  Then some how have them connected to this site.    

Pro:  I have several years of Nebraska schedules that are not supported here  because they can be folded. Plus other cards  So it would be nice.

Con:  Do we really want to expand into those areas.  The bigger anything gets the harder it is to control and more isssues

I'm very pleased with Trading Card Database remaining a trading card database as determined by Admin. If I wish to have my other paraphernalia logged I'd search for a site that concentrated on such items. I agree with RJ Smith that a line has to be drawn, and I believe it has.
