Off-Topic Forum

I think it's about the time where I take a hiatus from the forums. I'll still be around adding cards to my collection, packaging a few trades (when I'm able) and PIFs (I have three on my desk that I need to get to the post office to ship out), and kicking around in the IRs, but mainly I'll be focusing on my newest crusade here - cleaning up college team TIDs.

I've caught myself deleting more replies to threads than I'm actually posting for a multitude of reasons, and I think that's my sign that maybe I need to take a step back, keep to myself, and pretty much avoid discussions for now. I seem to remember Bruno (sandyrusty) doing this a few months back, and it seemed to work out well for him. Hopefully if and when I make a forum return I'll be feeling more refreshed and ready to contribute, but for now I'll keep my head down and just stay behind the scenes.

Messages are always open if you desperately need to contact me. Usually I wouldn't bother throwing a post like this out here, but I know that there are a handful out there (like me) who notice when a member goes silent or seems to be missing, and I certainly don't want anyone to think anything bad happened. Thanks all.

Take care I know I had to take a break for awhile due to my old computer goin' on the fritz and then a multitude of home repairs, in a coupla houses.  Come back refreshed, I know I did. 

Jason, as much as I post, I am actually writing many of them them up and then moving on without posting more often that I post as well. There seem to be a few figures around here who think creating controversy is fun whereas all is does is create confusion and extra work for those who can do it (and it always seems to be those who don't have the points to have the permissions to do the work - because they don't do the other work that can get them there).

It's frustrating always trying to right a ship that is constantly being intentionally steered off-course.

What kind of computer program is needed to add/submit set checklists? I don't have any experience really with spread sheets, so if I had a bit more of an idea I might be able to help out instead of asking. I always feel bad asking for things to be added, but I also want to make sure it's done properly.

Any application like EXCEL. Seems what most use. I guess any spreadsheet would work, even google docs. Make sure you follow the RULES.

I have had success in using excel and saving the checklists as an .xml file.  I would like to be able to use Numbers, haven't found a way to make that work yet.  Numbers is the spreadsheet program that comes with an i-mac.

Jason, I understand. I feel like the focus has shifted here lately from accurately trying to document every card ever made, to listing things however, as long as it doesn't match Beckett, even if Beckett actually got it correctly. 

I've considered stepping back as well...but I have nothing else that I can do thanks to my health problems. I recently quit working on the IRs but that only lasted about three days before I got bored and had nothing else to do, so I went back to it. Today I see there are IRs in to get packed out inserts removed because they are not the right cardstock. That's so wrong but I'm past the point of caring. 

I just don't feel like documenting history is the goal here anymore, and that's why I started using this site in the first place. 

Perhaps it wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't so despondent about "real life" right now, but it feels like the one last thing that I could do to escape the pain of real life is slipping away.
