Been a shade over a week without a post so I figured I'd share something that some may not consider "good news" but it made me smile so here goes. 

2020 marks my 20th year involved in baseball. 16 as a player, and eight as a coach. Yes, I know the math doesn't add up, but 2014-2017, I was both. I first played t-ball when I was six (in 2001), played all the way through Little League, four years of high school ball, and legion in the summers, then four years of college ball. My four years in college I started coaching that same American Legion team - my dad took over as the head coach in 2014, and yes, coaching with your dad is as cool as it sounds. 

Since graduation I've been with the legion team, and last year joined a 14U travel team as an assistant. This year, I took over the 14U team as the head coach (my first experience as a head guy) and will still be involved with our Legion team. 

Legion is 19U, so high school age, and we've had some fun stuff happen in the last two weeks. Our catcher will be signing his letter of intent to attend my alma mater to play ball on Monday the 24th; one of our former players is very close to committing to one of my old teammates to continue to play after junior college; and our first baseman just committed to Central Michigan to play football on National Signing Day!

Nothing too crazy, but it's always exciting to see kids reach their goals and have dreams come true. Figured I'd start Friday morning off bragging on a couple of my guys 

Very cool Jason!!  It's always exciting when the kids get to share their exciting experiences with you!!  It's almost like we reached the goals at the same time and we feel so proud to be involved!!

I will brag on my boys for a minute...

Both of my kids are younger.  We are mostly an outdoor family with camping and hiking, so we made the decision to get them into the scouts as we believe that it really helps them grow as young men.  The older one just achieved his Star rank.  He is only 12.  We are very proud of him.  He said that his goal is to reach the Eagle rank before his 14th birthday.  With his birthday being in the fall, he may have a outside chance at reaching it!!! 

The younger boy is very competitive with his brother.  He just crossed over into the boy scouts from the cub scouts and has already earned a merit badge or two.  We asked him about his goals about how fast he plans on acheiving the Eagle rank.  He said he sould have it by Thursday.

Love it F&B, my boy not an outdoors type of kid outside of our 14 days of camping. LOL However one of by best friends is a leader his wife in the executive and all three kids are or were involved so I know the benefits very well. The slot(?) cars they have built are amazing!!

On to my "good" news. We have finally gotten a pre-approval for a mortgage refinance (been a scary five months) now its just the paperwork/trail nightmare. Also I finally have my surgical consult booked. March 12th is the big meeting, sure hope it ends with a surgical date!!! Cross your fingers for me/us on everything.

I was a cub scouts too. My mother would give me ideas on what to do for projects and give me all the materials to make them. She was awesome with art and stuff. After a while the people that ran the cub scout troop started accusing my mother of doing most of the work, instead of me doing it. She came down to the troop leaders house and gave him hell. 

Congratulations on getting approved for the mortgage refi. Houses start at a half million in this silly town. It's very close to Boston. So we have always rented. It does help when he family owns the apartment.

I finally have a little good news. At least for me. I'll take what ever I can get.  I just received a 14 lb. box of vintage baseball and football cards that I bought from a member on the Net54 vintage card forum. The cards are mostly from the 50's and thru the early 70's. They're in awesome condition too ! Over the past few days, for some reason I started straightening out my card sets in albums. The card numbers were all out of wack.  I started on the 1971 set. Now I have to go back and sort the cards I have for trade and list them on the website I made using Yola website builder. It's pretty easy so far. Plain and simple. Even I can do it !  Some day, I'll have a nice site like Billy's and other members do. TCD is a huge help too.
