I agree with you. The NBA and NHL should just cancel their seasons. MLB is probably looking only at a maximum 100 game season. The NFL stated today that they are planning on having a full schedule. At least we have this site to keep us sane.

Yup, NBA/NHL regular season is likely toast. I believe action will resume straight into the playoffs. The regular season is just a drawn-out money-grab anyhow. Besides the cities with die hard fans (under normal circumstances), would anyone be tuning into the Cavs/Pistons or Senators/Red Wings games (I would watch both today because I'm desperate)?

Don't be too surprised at the overly judgmental who will say posts like this blow the pandemic out of proportion and feed the hype/frenzy/fearmongering. Still, if it is "official" and not an opinion, a link to a credible source would be appreciated.

Canada's chief medical officer, Dr.Teresa Tam has said it all along that this is not going to go away soon. The medical people have not down played any of this as have some politicians who give a false hope to people that things will soon be back tonormal. I doubt if they ever will be.
The spread continues. The total deaths keeps rising. The mortality rate stats are misleading as they use deaths against confirmed cases. The final outcome of many of those confirmed cases is still unknown. A better stat is deaths / (total recovered + deaths). The numbers may shock you. Though I believe those numbers will come down as the medical people learn what is effective against the virus, for as long as there is no vaccine, it will be a danger and not advisable to be in a large gathering such as in a stadium.
The NHL and NBA should not be thinking of resuming the seasons; they should acknowledge that the seasons are cancelled. Their focus should be more on what happens when they can't start the 2020/21 seasons in October. MLB should be planning for next year. And the NFL can remain optimistic if they wish but as we get into July and August, they may need to start thinking of a very short season or more likely, 2021.
My thoughts; I know we all have a right to an opinion.

As of right now, losing the NBA, NHL and MLB seasons wouldn't "kill" me....BUT losing the NFL season would definitely make for a very depressing fall.
I was listening and analyzing the graphs presented, unless some other factor enters the pandemic [like mutant covids], it doesn't take a dummy to see that less overall exposure, like social distancing flattens the curve. THEN WHY IS THE WORLD SO IGNORANT, Stay home, stay in and wash your hands. I would trust what the medical experts say....DO IT !

Spot on.... Why wouldn't you simply error on the side of caution in the interim. No vaccine. Therapeutic (untested) solution(s) being suggested ...not the wisest either. We will definitely see in the coming weeks (and more likely months) which direction and that's not even discounting the possibility of a "seasonal" return a notion not entirely rejected. Hope everyone is staying safe and limiting outings to essentials only. Herd immunity is not the answer and who would ever have thought this would happen in our lifetime.

One thing to keep in mind: Professional sports leagues make the money from TV contracts and advertising. What this means is that they do not need fans in the stands to make a profit.
Hypothetical scenario: If the number of cases is drastically reduced during May, and testing throughput is consistent, do not be surprised if sporting events WITHOUT fans get scheduled in June/July and are televised.

I can take the NBA and NHL closing up shop for the season, but I'LL BE DARNED IF THEY HAVE TO CANCEL THE WNBA SEASON! (I cleaned that up for the site).
