I wouldn't take that deal either. But I'll judge Schwarber after next year, too. He's hitting .253 since being brought back up. If he plays 150 games and hits .250, he'll hit 40 HRs. That makes up the the defense. 

They might not win it all, but I'd sure be afraid to face the Cubs in the playoffs. 

Hindsight being 20/20, I can now say the Royals doing absolutley nothing.  I know right before the deadline, we were right on the cusp of 1st place.  Then we went down again, plus Cleveland decided to stop losing (pretty amazing streak).  Anyway, there is no way we are keeping Moose, Cain, Hosmer, Escobar, Vargas....We may be able to hold on to one of them.  It will be sad seing 2018 Topps baseball cards with some (if not all) of those players in different uniforms.  

I don't mean to bum you out more, but my local Rookie-A level KC-affiliate didn't do good this year. They weren't terrible, but when you are talking about teams of mostly teenagers and early-20's players, the future isn't looking good for KC. They seriously need to come up with the cash to hold on to a bunch of those guys you mentioned. The farm system isn't deep enough to replace most of them!

I wouldn't say the Royals didn't do anything.  I mean we did trade away a couple fringe players who could have had potential for a trio of San Diego Padres pitchers who haven't been impressive.  I am really conflicted as a Royals fan too.  That trade to me was the worst trade made this year, but at the time (and even a bit now) I understand why they had to do it.  This is their last shot for a few years, and as much as it will suck next year, I had some hopes we could make it as a wild card team this year, and it would have been worth it.  I wouldn't have been too mad if we traded away all our free agent players because I understand its a business, but at the same time, it would have proved we are waving the white flag.  I don't see us getting more than one of those five to resign, but I won't be too made.  I hope it won't take 30 years to make it back to the playoffs, but I understand we had to pretty much give up our future to get a shot at a World Series.  Shoot, I was happy just to make it in 2014, but winning it in 2015, and going back to back years, I'll take it even if we have to spend 5 years to rebuild.

I know a lot really want us to resign Hosmer, but I really wish we'd resign Moose.  I think if we kept him he could be like George Brett and transition to first in later years if need be, as well as be a DH.  Plus if Moss is back he could play first as well as maybe having Salvy get a game or two once in a while at first so he can get a break behind the plate sometimes.

Any chance you want to reconsider? Not that one game should do it, but....
