30 years later and just learning about this one after an IR was submitted last night asking where to upload scans!
So there are a bunch of auctions on ebay selling 1990 Topps Ken Griffey Jr. "bloody scar error cards" for inflated prices?! Looks like every card has a photo defect and the color may vary (BOB!), but are people really falling for this one?

Its just to the right of the 24 on his jersey. It can be red, red/brown, flesh color in that area.

The cards right > above the Jr... I am not one who catches these either but it was pointed out to me. Most of the time the description of the variation makes no sense unless it is described with enough accurate information and having multiple cards to see the differences.

OMG! I just got to look at these cards and this thread......geez!!! 1/2 of the cards with the "scar" look like they are photoshopped. and the one that wants $3200????? they say it will grade high....they must be high.....for a 1990 card with 2 soft corners.....MAYBE a 7 or 8.....

Hey Everyone - I was going through my old boxes of cards and I had some unopened 1990 Topps packs. After opening them I found this Ken Griffey Jr. card with the bloody scar on the elbow, but I can't really find a lot of information about it other than some have sold for huge $$ on ebay. Google isn't being super helpful. Is this card really a super valuable error card or are people just scamming?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Being around ERR/VAR cards for too many years that I wish to admit. There are so many cards with various variations like these. I posted many from the '80s earlier this year. Let's see, I have 5 "bloody arms" x $3200 ...Holy Cow!

It's a scam. If you scroll through eBay, the ones that mention bloody scar and the ones who don't mention it, look exactly the same. And on the graded ones, wouldn't you think the Grading Companies would note the error on the tag? I think it's true that Ken Jr had a scab on his arm and Topps tried to cover it up, but the photos look like and awful attempt was made. I believe because of the color printing plate shifting that caused that appearance. Also note some calling it a "double error," where it appears Griffey has a double nose, again just a printing plate shift. I remember opening boxes of wax packs and finding many blurry images because of off centered printing color layers. People just trying to make some extra bucks of a few dollar card. My opinion.
