I too am of the never liking them retiring card #7 school. Since I was on my hiatus when they first did it I was totally confused by it at first. I understand "why" they did it or rather their reasoning for doing it. I don't like that they did it and it confuses later collectors who come along trying to complete those sets. I'm still not sure which years are missing the #7 card and which ones have a fill-in Mantle #7 card. It also made sets look odd with the first 6 cards having a current player from that year, then Mantle, then continuing on with the current players. Hopefully they will put that nonsense behind them and continue to put a #7 in future sets.
