Just read this thread after I uploaded Dodger factory set versions. Feel free to delete my images so Kmack could upload. Thanks for working on the checklist everyone.

Not sure if this is a useful data point for anyone, but I hand collated about 5 sets back in 1990. I the bought entire wax boxes spread out over the year (as my allowance would allow at the time, $10 per box at Smart & Final), so not all at once. I still have two hand collated sets left along with about 500 singles. When I got the message about the INC. variation, I went through everything I had. I was initially getting about a 1:4 INC:INC. ratio, but then one of my hand collated sets had 5:1 INC:INC. ratio.

I'm with you on this one - I opened a ton of these, probably put together the set I have, and still had about 3,000(?) extras floating around. I found that the VAST majority of the cards I have are the "dot" versions. I only had about 200 different "no dot" versions.
Now, there may be some of our members who have it the other way around (just like with your one set). (I don't like mixing sets in forum posts, but this reference is topical.) We found in our research on the 1989 Donruss set that the "no dot, 2 stars" versions were not as common as the other 3 versions. We also know that Donruss was using multiple printers/print locations (with obviously different typesetting). My opinion is that one of the locations that produced these variant cards was maybe an "overflow" facility, and didn't produce the cards in the same quantities that some of the other locations produced. Again, pure conjecture on my part.
But this is an interesting study, and certainly worth noting, discussing, and analyzing. Thanks for bringing this aspect to light!

All of my wax boxes were purchased at the same Smart & Final store in Los Angeles, so assuming their distribution source was from the same printer, my guess would be that cards printed at a certain time in the production cycle didn't have the dot? Who knows...

Nice work here! I see the variations all listed don't have a comma in them, but the card for that variation has the comma.
should
VAR: Pack border; "© 1989 LEAF INC" on back
be
VAR: Pack border; "© 1989 LEAF, INC" on back
my PSA 10 Griffey is the no dot version above.

You are correct, I seem to have missed the comma when I created all the checklists and updated all the Note2 fields.
I have sent a request in to Admin. Hopefully, he can fix it in a couple keystrokes. If not, It will literally be days before they are all fixed.

I unfortunately stumbled upon this due to my Mattingly Card Fandom. Many FB friends said oh check this out crazy work. I can only imagine the number of times your eyes went crossed, you thought you had it figured out only to look in a pile and see wait that has the inc. not the inc (no dot) then have to try and go through again. Many thanks for your hard work, I know I had 3 pair of eyes just looking at the backs of these cards. I haven't opened my factory set, not sure I will, maybe I'll just mark them that I have them all and hope it's true... maybe.
Thanks again for the hard work, I know this was way more than 88/89.

I hate to be the guy to bring this all back up, but can someone please point out to me the difference(s) between the 'pack border' and the 'factory set border'. I've taken good looks at a couple different examples, but I think I might be missing the differences here. Thanks!
