The Willie Stargell puzzle insert has two separate checklists - One for the puzzle pieces that have a decimal point in front of the numbers and one for the numbers without. Shouldn't this be one singular checklist with each puzzle card listed with a variation?

The better question is "Are there really people out there who would care?"
I'm kidding, of course, as I know there are collector's who would care. What you've proposed sounds like the most logical way of cataloguing them.

I agree with Vroomed. I guess a few people liked these puzzles but really, what a serious waste of trees.

I'll admit, in my youth I thought they were a cool idea. it was something different. That being said, the mini puzzles Donruss put out were as annoying as anything...

Don't get me wrong, I have them, and I even put a set in with each of my Donruss sets (and I even [gasp!] sheet them when I sheet the set). I honestly didn't even know that the Stargell puzzle pieces had a variation. Does anyone know why? Was it a Series 1 vs Series 2 thing? As many packs of that product as I busted, I never noticed. (Or didn't care!) LOL. Great, now I have something to look for to complete my 1991 Donruss set. I thought it WAS complete!

Interesting now that you mention it and im looking at my willie stargell pieces numbers 46 47 and 49 that i have have a decimal point in front and the 49 50 and 51 that i have do not. I probably never would have noticed that had i not read this.

We could check the Series 1 vs Series 2 theory. Get a few unopened packs of each series and open them.

I stand by the opinion I gave when a similar set was discussed on the forums about a year ago. If a variation exists of every single card in the set, I think it should be listed as a separate set, because it makes the checklist look a lot neater on my screen. I can see the other side of the argument, but I think listing them separately looks better.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I agree with switzr1. If every card has the same variation, its more of a parallel set than a variation.

I'd agree with switzr1 and C2Cigars if it wasn't for the fact the variation is nothing more than a silly decimal point on the back. It just doesn't seem to warrant a parallel set the way a different colored border set might. That being said, there may be something to the decimals being tied to the series. I recently entered in my 1992 Donruss, and the Rod Carew puzzle also has the decimal variation. In my case I have most of Donruss Series 1 but little of Series 2. All my Carew puzzle pieces were of the un-decimaled variety. Perhaps the decimals appeared in Series 2...
