Bought about half a dozen "Mystery Finest" inserts from 1996-97 Topps Basketball in a 25 cent bin last week and am struggling to figure out what I have. I see the following sets listed here:
Mystery Finest Bordered
Mystery Finest Bordered Refractors
Mystery Finest Borderless
Mystery Finest Borderless Refractors
Okay, so I have 5 bordered refactors and 3 borderless non-refractors. Simple enough, right? But after submitting scans for a couple of them I noticed that all of mine have a "Super Team Champion" logo on the front. So I guess these are some sort of redemption or mail-in parallel? Upon further digging I saw three more sets listed here with the same checklist:
Super Team Division Winners
Super Team Conference Winners
Super Team NBA Finals
Okay, so maybe I actually have some of these instead. Except all of mine just say "Champions", nothing about Division, Conference, or Finals. And they clearly come in both bordered and borderless and refractor and non-refractor versions as noted above. Looking at the scan already submitted against the "Super Team" sets suggests other people were as confused as I am, since I see refractors and non-refactors mixed together in the same sets. Does anyone know WTF is going on with all these variations?
