1992 Pro Line Profiles - Autographs Football Forum

Football folks, I need some help. working on some IRs and a few came in for the 1992 Pro Line Profiles Autograph set. Now you all know Football is outside of my knowledge zone but I am trying to fix it anyway. I need some guidance.

1. The cards are consecutively numbered on the CL here but appear to be numbered 1-9 for each person. wouldn't that both a] make the numbers incorrect and b] make them a whole bunch of different inserts, each being 9 cards of each person that should be numbered 1-9 instead of 385 or whatever?
2. Some of the notes are...weird. Most have the proper AU tag, but some don't. Some have the AU tag with other notes that I don't really understand. It appears some people have a different note altogether with no AU notes at all. Shouldn't they ALL be AU? I don't want to do a replace all like I usually do when some cards in a set have the proper Note but most don't because of the other notes info.

This is really beyond me so can someone who has more knowledge of this set please tackle it? Or, barring that, guide me in what needs to be done. Thanks!

Going with #2 first: Every one of those cards should have an AU note, along with the notes that are there. CO is coach, RET is retired, SP is the usual Short Print and EXCH is the obvious exchange cards.

For question #1: I do think all cards should be listed together instead of 55 different 9-card AU sets. But all of the numbers should be 1-9 with the players listed alphabetically in some way (last name or first name).

The CL for the set of AU's is really messed up. The way those cards are listed now, it certainly looks like something Admin can do so much faster than any members can do.

 for Q2 - yes they should all be auto's.. should be an easy fix with the search and replace.. IE; change "CO" to "AU, CO"

for Q1- this is one of the craziest things i seen, but if you read the description from the beckett, all the cards should have 9 per player that are NOT numbered, but going with beckett, they just list them in sequential random order based on player. Only some of the cards are actually numbered, so not sure if it should actually be a NNO or kept as sequential numbered.

These inserts parallel the regular Profiles set. The 1992 Pro Line autographs were randomly inserted in 1992 Pro Line foil (not jumbo) packs at the rate of approximately one per box. Like the Portrait autographs, these cards are signed in black Sharpie, embossed with an NFL seal and are missing the card number to distinguish them from regular cards. The Art Monk autographs (496-504) were sent to the earliest respondents to the wrapper mail-in offer. The card numbers were not removed from the Art Monk autographs. The prices below refer to all autograph cards from the subset. However, certain types of Profile autographs are more popular than others and some were signed in shorter supply. Cards showing the player in NFL action or in the uniform of a popular college sometimes bring a 25 to 50 percent premium above the prices listed below. Cards signed by Chris Miller (334-342) are not known to exist. Also the following cards are not known to exist in signed form: 56, 58, 356, 376, 383, 457-459, 504. Card #2 was not signed by Ronnie Lott but by his wife Karen. Finally, some Mark Rypien signed cards featuring the certified embossed stamp have appeared on the secondary market but have yet to be priced below.

Because they read 1 of 9, 2 of 9, ..., 8 of 9, 9 of 9, technically, all the 1's should be listed first, in alpha order, then the 2's, etc., if we are going to follow the guidelines of the database. Otherwise, having each player as his own "insert set" might be the correct way of handling this. What a crazy set.

So weird that they wouldn't just use the exact same back for the base & auto versions.

The "cut out" where the text wraps around the "9 box" is still there!  Why didn't you use it?!

The base set cards have a card number plus the 1 of xx, 2 of xx.  Autographed cards had the card number removed but not the 1 of xx, 2 of xx, etc.  So, technically, the AU cards have a "new" card number based on the 1 of xx, 2 of xx, etc. 

ProSet did this with most of their autographed cards; the card numbers were removed.

Not to complicate things any more than they already are. But the (National Convention parallel set) has the same cardbacks and numbering as the autographed set. Would it be possible to include the checklist for the National Convention parallel set, when this is all figured out? I know there is a link to just copy a complete checklist and move it over, but didn't want to confuse anything more than what it is already.
