Mr. Irrelevantby C2Cigars - 34 cards (Last updated on Jan 28, 2024) |
Paul Salata founded "Mr. Irrelevant" and "Irrelevant Week" in 1976. During the summer after the draft, the new Mr. Irrelevant and his family are invited to spend a week in Newport Beach, California, where they enjoy a golf tournament, a regatta, a roast giving advice to the new draftee, and a ceremony awarding him the Lowsman Trophy. The trophy mimics the Heisman, but depicts a player fumbling a football.

This is a great collection. Kelvin Kirk has a 1982 CFL Jogo card: Also, you have to include Paul Salata (1950 Bowman) since he invented the tradition!

It's amazing how many of these final draft picks really did nothing in the NFL and so many undrafted "free agents" have done so much more in their football careers. Then again, we could have a 1st Round DP Busts list that looks even worse! BTW, where are 2013, 2014 and 2016 Mr. Irrelevant's? ;)
@spazmatastic; Justice Cunningham (2013), Lonnie Ballentine (2014), and Kalan Reed (2016) never had a card issued. Hard to believe with the number of cards produced for draftees.
I agree that it's hard to believe. I'm even surprised there are no AU cards of them.
How did you decide this because I see some years have multiple and others do not have any (guessing there are no cards for that player) |
