NBA Top 50 Jerseys/Autosby wamk - 50 cards (Last updated on Feb 14, 2013) |
11. 2009-10 Playoff National Treasures - NBA Greatest Materials #6 Dave Cowens
Cowens showing off his short-shorts. It's interesting to compare how the materials used in the uniforms have changed over the years. This one looks pretty basic, when compared to the more "tech" jersey materials of today.
|
12. 2011-12 Panini Gold Standard - 14K Autographs #50 Billy Cunningham
1 ring as a player, 1 as a coach, ABA MVP, 5 NBA all star. Won his ring alongside Hal Greer and Wilt, then played a few seasons in the ABA. An injury ended his career, and put him in the coaches seat. He reached 200, 300, and 400 wins faster than any other coach in league history. He made it to the Finals as a coach three times, winning once. He was also a minority owner of the Miami Heat for 7 years.
|
13. 2000-01 Upper Deck Legends - Legendary Jerseys #DD-J Dave DeBusschere
Great rebounder, the prototypical power forward. He was also a great defender. DeBusschere played alongside Willis Reed, Earl Monroe, Walt Frazier, and Bill Bradley. DeBusschere wound up working in the Knicks front office, and drafted Patrick Ewing. A great athlete, he also played baseball for the White Sox, getting one hit in his MLB career. He won 2 rings, and made 8 all star teams.
|
14. 2010-11 Panini Elite Black Box - Materials #123 Clyde Drexler
"The Glide" was a 10 time All Star, won a championship with the Rockets, and a gold medal with the "Dream Team" in the 1992 Olympics. It was a thing of beauty to watch him lead the fast break. He lost in the Finals (as a Blazer) to Detroit and Chicago (remember Jordan shrugging his shoulders as he was bombing threes?) He won his ring against the Magic.
|
15. 2003-04 SP Game Used - Legendary Fabrics #JE-L Julius Erving
Dr. J, working at his "office"..
|
16. 2009-10 Upper Deck - Game Materials #GJ-PE Patrick Ewing
11 time all star, rookie of the year, and an NCAA champion. He also won Olympic gold in 1984 and 1992. Ewing had the "luck" to play during the Jordan dynasty, but still held court as one of the most dominant players of his era. In a time of big men, he was one of the biggest.
|
17. 2007-08 Upper Deck Artifacts - Divisional Artifacts #DA-WF Walt Frazier
2 rings, 7 All Stars, and having Earl "The Pearl" as his backcourt running mate. "Clyde" (did you know his nickname came from the hat he wore, which was similar to the one Warren Beatty wore in the movie 'Bonnie and Clyde'?) held pretty much all of the Knicks records until a guy named Patrick Ewing came along and rewrote the books.
|
18. 2008-09 Topps T-51 Murad - Relics #T51R-GG George Gervin
"Iceman" was a scoring machine. He led the NBA in scoring for four seasons (three of them consecutively). Gervin's finger roll was his trademark shot. He was a 9 time NBA all star, and a 3 time ABA all star. He never won a ring, but did get to play alongside Dr. J and Michael Jordan during his career.
|
19. 2007-08 Upper Deck Premier - Penmanship Autographs #PEN-HG Hal Greer
1 ring, 10 all star, 1 all star MVP. He was the leading playoff scorer on his championship team, a squad that included Wilt Chamberlain. Greer was also knowm for shooting his free throws as jumpers. He once scored 19 points in a single quarter in an all star game, a record.
|
20. 2010-11 Panini Elite Black Box - Elite Series Materials Prime #43 John Havlicek
"Hondo" won 8 rings, 13 all stars, 1 Finals MVP, 5 time all defense 1st team. He also was drafted by the Browns in the NFL as a WR. Havlicek is the Celtics all-time leader in points and games played, scored 1,000 points in 16 straight years, and was known as a great clutch shooter.

Any leads on a Dave Bing card?
| ||
Fantastic list! By the way, my favorite card in your listing is the Walt Frazier Artifacts card.
| ||
MAS- Finally scored the Bing off eBay. I got lucky, as the seller had the year incorrect in his posting, and I was able to Buy It Now before others saw it..
| ||
Gunny- Thanks! The Frazier is pretty cool; my favorites have to be the Barkley (only jersey card of him I could find, and fairly rare), and the Thurmond.
| ||
Still not a true top 50 without Dominique.

That Mike Jordan card is a beauty!
