All-Time Wisconsin Badgers NFL Roster

by carthage44 - 24 cards (Last updated on Oct 29, 2017)

1. 2012 Topps #165 Russell Wilson

Starting Quarterback: Wilson only played one year at Wisconsin but it was a GREAT one. After being drafted in the 3rd round (due to his short size), Wilson is already a Super Bowl Champion, 3x Pro Bowler and has shattered the Seahawks records books. He currently plays for the Seattle Seahawks in 2017.

Backups: Randy Wright, Ron Vander Kelen, Jim Sorgi, Brooks Bollinger and Scott Tolzien

2. 1955 Bowman #8 Alan Ameche

Starting Fullback: A very short 6-year NFL career due to an Achilles tendon tear but still managed to be NFL Champion twice, a 4x Pro Bowler and scored the winning touchdown in "The Greatest Game Ever Played" during the 1958 NFL Championship game against the New York Giants.

Backups: Cecil Martin, Chris Pressley and Derek Watt

3. 2001 Topps #384 Michael Bennett

Starting Running Back: Bennett had a solid 10-year NFL career between the Vikings, Chiefs, Buccaneers, Chargers and Raiders. He made the Pro Bowl in 2003 after rushing for 1,296 yards and 6 total touchdowns. Know as one of the fastest players in the league when he played but injuries slowed his career.

Backups: Joe Dawkins, Ron Dayne, Terrell Fletcher, Melvin Gordon and James White

4. 1986 Topps #101 Al Toon

Starting Wide Receiver: Toon was another very good player that had his career cut short after 8 years in the NFL due to multiple concussions. Toon still managed to a 3x Pro Bowler, two 1,000 plus seasons and 3 career touchdowns.

Backups: Lee Evans, Tony Simmons and Alex Erickson

5. 2001 Topps #356 Chris Chambers

Starting Wide Receiver: Chambers was a steady 10-year NFL veteran with the Dolphins, Chargers and Chiefs. He recorded 540 receptions, over 7,500 receiving yards, 58 touchdowns and a Pro Bowler in 2005.

Backups: Donald Hayes and Jared Abbrederis

6. 2006 Upper Deck #268 Owen Daniels

Starting Tight End: This was a close call between Daniels and Dave Kocourek but Daniels gets the nod being a Super Bowl Champion, 2x Pro Bowler and over 5,500 receiving yards and 36 touchdowns.

Backups: Dave Kocourek, Stu Voigt, Pat Richter, Lance Kendricks and Garrett Graham

7. 1977 Topps #99 Mike Webster

Starting Center: One of the strongest positions that Wisconsin has produced but no real question here as Webster is a Pro Football Hall of Famer, 4x Super Bowl Champion, 9x Pro Bowler and his brain helped in the study to understand the full effect of concussions (see the movie Concussion staring Will Smith).

Backups: Jeff Dellenbach, Ken Bowman, Travis Frederick, Cory Raymer, Dan Turk and Al Johnson

8. 2012 Topps #193 Kevin Zeitler

Starting Guard: Zeitler has been a starting guard since he was drafted in the first round by the Bengals. He is currently playing for the Cleveland Browns in 2017.

Backups: Terry Stieve and Ray Snell

9. 2009 SP Authentic #281 Kraig Urbik

Starting Guard: Urbik a 3rd round pick by the Steelers in 2009 has also played for the Bills and Dolphins. He has played in 100 career NFL games starting 63 of them.

Backups: Joe Panos and Dan Buenning

10. 2007 Topps #392 Joe Thomas

Starting Tackle: Thomas a future Hall of Famer, has been a Pro Bowler every single year since he has come into the NFL in 2007 (10 times). He is known as the Iron Man of football as his 10,363 consecutive snaps ended here in 2017 after a torn triceps. He currently plays for the Cleveland Browns in 2017.

Alan Ameche. Love his burger at Gino Marchetti’s restaurant. Great list.

I would say Melvin Gordon quickly making a play for the starting running back spot. Solid list, On, Wisconsin!

Elroy Hirsch should be on the list. Great list though.

The reason Hirch is not on the list is because he played only his first two years with Wisconsin before transferring to Michigan. I stuck with players that finished their college careers with the Badgers before moving onto the NFL. Crazy Legs was amazing!
