Down Goes Brown's Obscure Former Players of the Weekby Howintensive - 88 cards (Last updated on Dec 9, 2015) |
My favorite hockey blogger is Sean McIndoe from Down Goes Brown and Grantland. Every Friday he does an NHL Grab Bag- sort of a week in review in the world of hockey. He includes sections like "What is the Hockey World Pretending to be Outraged About Now," "Awesome and/or Horrific Old YouTube Clip of the Week," and "What has Don Cherry Gone and Done Now?" My favorite section is the "Obscure Former Player of the Week" section. I did a complete history and analysis of it for him here:

I ultimately want to own a card of every obscure former player. The guys from the '40s will definitely be tough, though.

I am looking to collect ANY card of these players, not just the one listed.
Players in the list that do not have cards:
Bill McCreary (Leafs, 1981, not the ref)
Jim Boo (North Stars, 1978)
John Albert (Jets, 2014, ALBERT ALBERT ALBERT)
Todd Okerlund (Islanders, 1988)

Nice list, I remember the female goalie card, Manon Rheaume. That card was a big deal back then. The '84-'85 Topps/O-Pee-Chee was a nicely designed set. I have the Chelios rookie from that set.

Another player with no card:
Taylor Hall, born 1964.
| ||
Taylor Hall (b.1964) and John Albert have minor league cards.
| ||
Another- Rick Pagnutti (Kings, 1st overall pick that never made it to the NHL)
