Who are you?by Billy Kingsley - 3 cards (Last updated on May 30, 2020) |
3. 1995-96 Collector's Choice #297 Tyus Edney
Grizzlies #5 on the back. Darrick Martin wore #5 for the team in 1995-96 and that is clearly not him. This photo MUST have been taken in 1995-96 because the Grizzlies did not exist before then, and Edney was a rookie that year.

The Sonic appears to be Joe Vogel.
Good call Dave, that is indeed him. Guy's still playing in Lebanon! He never got any cards so I have to add him to my other list now.
The only thing I can think of is that this photo is from a preseason game and Wilson was somebody who obviously didn't stick on the final roster. Unfortunately, Basketball Reference has no record of preseason games or training camp rosters so we'll probably never know for sure.
I just saw your comment cbcbdt90. I wish those records were kept or available! I checked the Pistons transactions back to 1990 and couldn't find any reference to anyone named Wilson at all. Using the transactions is how I think I've figured out the #5 on the Grizzlies I just posted.
I'm thining the 34 for the Sonics looks like Frank Brickowski, he made a return trip there in 1995-1996 (its the goatee that makes me think its him), and he did wear 34 that year https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/SEA/1996.html

I think the Pistons player is probably Nikita Wilson. He played for the Grand Rapids Hoops in 1993 (Now Grand Rapids Drive), which is the Pistons G-league team. Probably was called up for a pre-season game try-out for the Pistons. Not many seats are filled in the background either.

For sure the Sonics player is Frank Brickowski as soxbigdog stated.
That doesn't look anything at all like Brickowski's face though. Great find SDC...not a surprise, you're like the FBI of the hobby. I've never heard of Nikita Wilson before. Awesome! |
