21. 2002 Topps #100 Vladimir Guerrero
This set was very disappointing in the print quality. I've seen far too many cards that had the foil all over the place on the card where it was flaking off. I liked the choice of Vlad for this year's honor for the soon to be defunct Expos. |
22. 2001 Topps #100 Derek Jeter
Jeter was a class act through and through. He was honored by Topps in many ways. I thought for a 50 year anniversary, this set design was pretty disappointing. It was nice to see them go back to a large set with 790 cards. |
23. 2000 Topps #100 Alex Rodriguez
A-Rod's 1st card #100. The set design reminds me of the 1970 set with the gray border. Portrait stats on the back is a nice change every now and then. |
24. 1999 Topps #100 Ken Griffey Jr.
This set was too much like the 1998 design. It seems as though Topps designs come in pairs. Loved seeing the Kid getting a nice card #100. |
25. 1998 Topps #100 Mike Piazza
Classic hard working player in Mike Piazza. Set design was OK. I like the idea that they went with a gold border for the first time. |
26. 1997 Topps #100 Dwight Gooden
A little bit of a break for Topps with a Highlight card instead of a star card, but then again Doc was a star in his own right. The 1997 set design was a nice simple design with gloss and nice color. |
27. 1996 Topps #100 Frank Thomas
I liked the multi sport star (although he never did play pro football) of the Big Hurt. I was a big fan of his early on. I was not a fan of the 1996 set with the extra blue photo on the front. Best part was it was only 440 cards in the entire base set. |
28. 1995 Topps #100 Barry Bonds
Topps shrank the set back down to the old 660 count after the massive 792 sets for about a decade. The front was a decent design, only missing a team logo. However, I did not like the Mitsubishi Diamond Vision grainy photo on the back. Not a good choice in my book. I also didn't like seeing Barry Bonds honored again. |
29. 1994 Topps #100 Kirby Puckett
Kirby was amazing how fast he was and how hard he played for his size. He left us way too young. The design of the card has 1990's written all over it. |
30. 1993 Topps #100 Mark McGwire
With the other half of the 'Bash Brothers' honored in 1993, it helps solidify my suspicion that Topps designs their sets in pairs. Topps finally added a nice multi color, near gloss back. It only took them 4-5 years after Upper Deck took the industry by storm. |

Woah, full stats are back for 2019. That's worth an extra star or two on the 'ol rating, that's for sure.
