- Budweiser sponsorships were removed from the cards due to licensing agreements, but Skoal returned in this set after not appearing in 1997 Road to the Cup.
- Brett Bodine had a sponsorship issue in 1997 that can be seen on cards #11 and #56. Original sponsor Close Call Phone Cards appeared on the car at the start of the season, but they were stripped from the car for the remainder of the year after they failed to make required payments. The cards in this set do not have the sponsor.
