I brought 2 packs of 1981 donruss off of ebay, but the guy only had one, so he substituted it with a pack of '82 fleer. I ended up pulling a Cal Ripken Rookie!

Aside from the cool puzzle, I'm not really a fan of this set. My main issues are the fuzzy photos on the front of the cards. I realize these were photographed in 1981, but some of them look like they were taken with a Polaroid Instamatic. (youngsters may have to Google)

The backs have all the stats of the day that I would expect. I appreciate full stats, not just the recent MBL stats. The team logos are blurry and off center. I'm not real fond of this set, but then again I don't have the emotional attachment many do.

First pack I ever opened, although I remember being more interested in collecting all of the team stickers than the actual set. Still one of my favorite sets because so many of the photos were taken at Veterans Stadium.

This sticker checklist is a very impressive piece of documentation with all the variations. Crazy to see how many there are! Great job to those who made it happen!

This is the first set that I tried to get a complete set of. I finally finished it about two months ago.

This is the first set I remember collecting. I remember opening a pack and seeing Cal Ripken Jr and thinking this guy looks cool. Years later, I still have it and will always remember that!

The first set that I seriously collected. I would walk down to the corner store and buy cello packs which were like 50 cents for 30 cards? I just did finally get the last 6 cards to complete the set (minus some of the errors).

I remember getting a bunch of these in retail boxes from my parents on my birthday in 1982. Think they got them from a salvage/overstock store for about $5 a box. Put together a full set, minus a few of the big errors. Have to try to find them as I know for sure I have one or two of the Cal Jr., not sure of the shape anymore. The set has been in topload sheets since probably 1992 or so...
