Enfield, CT Card Show 2/2/19 Additions by Billy Kingsley (Last updated on Feb. 16, 2019)

I had not been to a card show since 2005, but I attended the Enfield Card Show on February 2nd, 2019. These are the cards I added to my collection at that show. Does not include the cards from the unopened packs, the set I won as a door prize, or the cards from the box Jim gave me- all of which I looked at later. These are only the singles I purchased.

Sets (or collections) that need scans by vrooomed (Last updated on Feb. 15, 2019)

Set up to help me figure out what to scan next, but figured I would open it up so others could see it. Maybe, just maybe, someone would want to help me on one, and it can go a little quicker. If you do want to help, just scan your cards!

Lakers Transactions by EbeSPN (Last updated on Feb. 15, 2019)

With all the moves the Lakers have made over the past week with Lebron and crew I figured i would look back at Lakers' transactions starting in 1990. Anthony Davis not included (yet).

My completed Parallel sets by Billy Kingsley (Last updated on Feb. 14, 2019)

I love parallels. To me they are the second tier after base cards. But how many have I completed? It's not many, but I don't know the exact number...until I finish this chart.

Negro League and MLB Players by bpoday (Last updated on Feb. 2, 2019)

These are MLB players that once played in Negro Leagues. Historians vary on when Negro League ended but many use 1950 as a cut-off date as it was mostly barnstorm teams after that. This list considers the Negro League players of 1920-1950. Sadly, there are 8 players in which no cards exist (that I can find).

Topps card #100 by dsorek (Last updated on Jan. 30, 2019)

This is a list of all the Topps card #100 which has traditionally been a card of honor over the years. I know Topps has used the X00 cards for stars each year and the X50 cards as the next tier for 'semi-stars', but I'll just do a list of Card #100. Maybe I'll get the steam to do a list for Card #200, 300, 400, etc. This was a fun list and I took the opportunity to provide my opinion on their choice of player as well as the designs.

From Record Books to Lyrics - Athletes Used Figuratively by Sportzcommish (Last updated on Jan. 28, 2019)

YOU ARE WELCOMED TO SUGGEST SONGS, BUT PLEASE INCLUDE AN INTERPRETATION OF THE FIGURATIVE USE OF THE PLAYER/TEAM.

Sports is not only a diversion, but a microcosm of life's struggles. Songwriters take it a step further and employ sports heroes in their lyrical compositions to paint thoughtful interpretations of life. It's not just the mention of an athlete in a song, those are a dime a dozen, it's their name used figuratively that make this list.

Unfortunately if it's not used figuratively I'll delete the post to not influence others to simply post a song that mentions an athlete. If your post is still shown with lyrics it's because I'm still trying to determine if it qualifies.

All suggestions are appreciated whether they make the list or not.

1969 Topps Cards from the MLBPA Boycott of 1968 by Dave Sosidka (Last updated on Jan. 28, 2019)

As the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) was forming and strengthening, the players realized that Topps, with a monopoly on producing baseball cards, was paying them peanuts for their likenesses. As a move to put some pressure on the Brooklyn-based bubble gum giant, the players decided to not pose for Topps photographers in 1968. The result was that the 1969 set contains many older photos- taken two, three, and sometimes, more years earlier. To read more, check out https://sabrbaseballcards.blog/2017/01/03/the-1967-68-player-boycott-of-topps/.
Thanks to Jack Webster for his detective work in helping me track some of these down.

Last Topps (base set) Card of Every Hall of Famer Who Has a Topps Card by Vvvergeer (Last updated on Jan. 22, 2019)

Getting to be too many inductions per year, in my view. But maybe it will slow in a couple of years. And now we're back to cronyism with Harold Baines getting in. But at least the no one gets in with 100% of the vote thing is over and done.

Anyway, I've added the 2019 class, because I don't/can't wait until July.

This is my favorite subset of cards. It's my collection of the last Topps card of every Hall of Fame player who has a regular Topps card. I couldn't afford all the rookie cards and if I got into other companies, it'd be too intimidating. But I love this collection all the same. With this method, there are admittedly a lot of players in unfamiliar jerseys, but the cards also have more complete career stats than rookie cards, which is more relevant to HOF status. They are in order of year of induction. Enjoy.

Cards With Kids by royals (Last updated on Jan. 22, 2019)

Photos showing the kids as an intentional part of the shot...not just as fans in the stands. Often spending time with their athlete parent, but it does not have to be the athlete's child.

Please leave a comment with recommendations for cards to add.

Signs of the 80s: Winningest Goalies by bevans (Last updated on Jan. 20, 2019)

A complement to my leading scorers list, this one tracks my attempt to collect autographed cards of the top 25 goalie wins leaders of the 1980s. Win totals are based on the 11-year period from 1979-80 through 1989-90.

A Long Strange Trip by bevans (Last updated on Jan. 19, 2019)

Stephane Beauregard was a seldom-used backup goaltender who spent five years in the NHL, four of them with the Winnipeg Jets. His journey in the one year away from Winnipeg almost seems too far-fetched to be true.

The Dunk: Most Recycled Photo Ever? by bevans (Last updated on Jan. 19, 2019)

Larry Nance won the NBA's first Slam Dunk Content in 1984, defeating Julius Erving in the final with this iconic windmill jam that I am guessing has been reproduced on cardboard more times than any other image.
