- The Surprise Cards in the set could be redeemed for a 4-card cello pack containing a foil Stat Smashers card, a Red Hot Rookie insert, a Field Force insert, and either a Silver or Gold parallel Field Force insert. The Stat Smashers card depended on which Surprise Card was redeemed. #1 received a #P-1 Barry Sanders, while #251 received a #P-2 Emmitt Smith.
- In August 2023, the design of the 2020 and 2021 Panini Certified "Stat Smashers" inserts was determined by a court to be too close to these original ones from this year and 1993, and Panini agreed to pay $25 million to the Chapter 7 trustee of AAA Sports Inc.
