Set: 2011-12 O-Pee-Chee (Rate)

Card: #288 Mike Ribeiro

“ I don't collect hockey cards but from what I have seen they do a nice job with their card desgins. ” -carthage44

“ I like how O-Pee-Chee felt the need to remind us with a tiny band of lettering that this is a hockey card. And here I was worried this was just a publicity shot for Alfonso's really pale cousin. ” -UNC_Samurai

“ Can someone please explain to me the deal with O-Pee-Chee and Topps, please? I knew at one time but can't remember any more. The card design is interesting, I like it. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ When ever I see an O-Pee-Chee card, I pictured a robust woman yelling out her window for her child, OOOOO PEEECHHEEE, time for dinner... Also why is his position C/C (center/center)? ” -SaveDaKid

“ I really like this design, except for the fact that most of the bottom is made up of the O-Pee-Chee logo. ” -jlaz10

Set: 1992-93 Stadium Club (Rate)

Card: #86 Dmitri Khristich

“ Stadium club always did a nice job with their action shots. ” -carthage44

“ Good photography here. Naturally, being Stadium Club... I always like seeing when the card companies use the same design with minor variations in a given year across all it's sports covered. I only collect two of them but I've seen the others posted here on the Database, and at card shows back in the day (I really miss them) ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Great design! Big image, small text and logo, the emphasis is on the player. Great action shot, too! ” -wamk

“ I always liked the way Khristich played. As far as the card goes I like the fact that the usual statistics found on the back of the card are replaced with some sort of ranking on the player's skills. ” -Gunny

“ The single coolest thing about the '91 Stadium Club line across all four sports was the picture of the rookie card on the back. Great supplemental resource when Beckett Monthly's price guide got too crowded to include older cards. ” -UNC_Samurai

“ Holy mackeral a hockey card !!!! I liked the first 2 runs Stadium club but after that, mehhh. ” -uncaian

“ The old Caps uniform design was a beaut. Good thing they brought it back as a third. ” -jlaz10

“ I like these sets because they showed their rookie cards on the back. I also hated it for the same reason. The "rookie card" was just their first Topps issued cards, so they usually had their proper rookie card for O-pee-chee or another brand. ” -DanD

Set: 1974 Topps Traded (Rate)

Card: #59T Ross Grimsley

“ Hmm....Overkill, anyone? There's no way to miss the fact that he was traded. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ I got the feeling he got traded ” -Young Kilo

“ Traded from where? ” -carthage44

“ One of the first cards I bought when I was little. AHH, the memories. ” -deporcoruña

“ The Topps Airbrush Follies of 1974! Why else would a Baltimore Orioles player appear at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia before interleague play began? ” -PlayerPCCollector

“ Looks like a prison photo. ” -goldeneye

“ Hmmm... I wonder if ol' Ross has been traded? ” -SSG Temple

“ I'm not completely sure, but I think Grimsley got traded.. ” -wamk

“ I always found it funny when Topps tried to make the airbrushed caps look real when it was blatantly obvious they were fake. ” -jlaz10

“ Traded sets always frustrate me ” -Hollywood42

“ PITCHER'S GONE WILD!!! SPRING BREAK GRAPEFRUIT LEAGUE STYLE!!! I'm 24, from Topeka, Kansas, and I love walking backwards throw a cornfield... ” -SaveDaKid

“ Yikes that's some terrible airbrushing. ” -cynicalbuddha

Set: 1989 Score (Rate)

Card: #454 Tim Birtsas

“ The pullover jerseys with sansabelt pants was never a good look. Liking the stirrups though. When I was a kid I liked this set because of how colorful it is and because of the large photo on the card back. ” -duaned99

“ Good design on this card. Name font looks like something that would have been used about a decade later, but that's not a bad thing. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ There is nothing that will ruin a pitcher's card as much as a photo taken at the most awkward moment possible in his throwing motion. It looks like he's got his hand in the pocket and he's changing direction in mid-delivery. ” -UNC_Samurai

“ Biggest claim to fame? Getting traded for Rickey Henderson. Obviously not straight up. But people don't need to know details ” -Young Kilo

“ Not bad for an early Score design. Nice action photo with a decent border design that doesn't detract from the player. ” -koloth42

“ Score always used a lot of colors in their sets, just like 88 and 90. ” -suomibear8

“ Oh 1989 score, how I wished I would have never see you again. ” -carthage44

“ Although the Score brand only existed for a few years, Score designs were a lot better than today's crap. ” -jlaz10

Set: 1977 Topps Star Wars (Rate)

Card: #169 Meeting at the Death Star!

“ Classic. ” -sascards67

“ When Star Wars came out in 1977, it was hugely popular...much more than anyone anticipated. Topps released the standard set, but it was so popular they released 4 more (!) making it the only 5-series set I know of...all in the same year, no less. Some of the images were even pretty much the same. The yellow series is Series 3, of which I only have 2 cards, (so far!) and this is not one of them. My first memory of anything is of watching Star Wars, and for nearly 25 years I believed that my Star Wars cards were my first, only finding out last year that they were the second set in my collection. Although the movies came out before I was born, my brother bought the cards new and gave me his duplicates in 1988, at the same time that I got my first cards, the Bigfoot monster truck cards, thus kicking off a lifetime in the hobby. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ I remember having these cards as a kid, but I don't know what I did with them. Love the the movies there all some of my favorates. ” -deporcoruña

“ I used to have a big yellow metal tonka dumptruck that I used to hold all my star wars cards when I was a kid. Lets just say they would be in better shape if I had used a card box. ” -bplay24

“ Great to see one of these cards hit the random cards of the day. I collected these when I was growing up and still have all my cards. I think a pack of the red set was the first trading cards I ever had and my grandmother bought them for me. Such wonderful memories. ” -koloth42

“ This piece of card can't even deny it's from the 70s. The graphics, the colors are so typical. I've never been a StarWars fan, but this is a nice collectible. ” -xv3thekid

“ I find your lack of faith...disturbing. ” -cynicalbuddha

“ Doesn't compare with the Davy Crockett or Zorro cards of the 1950s. Very dull ” -NJDevils

“ "ok, whose turn was it to bring the beer and chips?" ” -tonym

“ Even though it's Star Wars and there's no Topps markings, I automatically knew it was Topps because of the border. ” -jlaz10

“ Choke him, Vader!! ” -DanD

“ Sorry I'm late, I forgot to change my clock, we built this giant Death Star & I can't get a clock that automatically adjusts itself... ” -SaveDaKid

“ Cool! Star Wars geeks unite! (I'm one of them!) ” -Hollywood42

“ "Fleer will keep them in line. Fleer, and this battlestation." ” -UNC_Samurai

Set: 1996 Donruss (Rate)

Card: #222 Albert Belle

“ I'm guessing that square is mirror foil and looks a lot better in person... ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Should be in the HOF ” -Young Kilo

“ Hmm nice image with a simple design but what's with the box at the bottom? Did Albert get put in the Donruss penalty box? ” -koloth42

“ Just below Barry Bonds on the list of reprehensible major leaguers.... ” -PlayerPCCollector

“ One of the best hitters I've seen. Too bad he was too conflictive. ” -deporcoruña

“ Don't trip on the box!!!. Too late. ” -dobbie

“ I really liked how all of the vital card information (Team, brand, year, position, etc.) was put into a small box on the bottom. ” -jlaz10

“ JOEY!!! Running from the cork police... ” -SaveDaKid

Set: 1996 Mother's Cookies San Diego Padres (Rate)

Card: #17 Trevor Hoffman

“ I'd never heard of this brand before I joined the Database, but who doesn't love cookies? ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Another one of these, PASS! ” -carthage44

“ Looks like someone enjoyed mother's cookies... ” -SaveDaKid

“ Why MLB would authorize a brand like this is beyond me. ” -jlaz10

“ Next up on the list of sets that never should have been: Mother's Cookies ” -Hollywood42

“ My favorite Padres uniform set. Good color scheme. It looked sharper than what they are currently wearing. ” -duaned99

“ How come so many Mother's Cookies cards get "randomly" picked for this? ” -sascards67

Set: 1997 Wheels Race Sharks (Rate)

Card: #2 Jeff Gordon

“ Yes, another NASCAR card! After a long drought with none, three in less than a month! Unfortunatly it's one of the many zany mid-late 90s Wheels sets that had nothing to do with anything NASCAR. This one is shark themed, they also did a medieval knight theme, a bear/wolf theme, and a dinosaur theme...and I think I'm even forgetting one or two. Might explain why they are no longer in buisness. Jeff is one of only 4 people with over 1000 of his cards scanned and posted into the database. The others are all baseball. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ The racer every redneck loves to hate. ” -uncaian

“ I get it, Race Sharks! ” -jlaz10

“ Again, I still don't get NASCAR ” -Hollywood42

“ Awful. ” -wamk

“ Ironic, considering most race fans in 1997 thought Gordon was quite the chum. ” -UNC_Samurai

“ This design is just wrong. ” -koloth42

Set: 1978 Montreal Expos Postcards (Rate)

Card: #13 Wayne Garrett

“ Bring the Expos back. Loved that logo! ” -carthage44

“ I never really considered post cards as trading cards in the past, but I suppose if they are a numbered series they would count. I also collect post cards, but most of my collection (under 30 cards, I believe) I purchased myself on vacations. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ The late, lamented Montreal Expos did a great run of color postcards from 1977-2004. The first grouping was from 1977-1979 and featured the player's name and position in French and English. I was 14 when I receieved my first one back in 1979- from Gary Carter- personalized to me. Another interesting fact: most, if not all of the photos from this era were taken by Denis Brodeur, whose son you might know for being the future Hall of Fame goalie of the New Jersey Devils, Martin Brodeur. ” -PlayerPCCollector

“ A bit on the plain side but what do you expect form a 1978 circa postcard collectable? ” -koloth42

“ It's odd looking at an Expos jersey without full-sleeve and side racing stripes. ” -jlaz10

“ Were the Expos required by law to argue with the umpire in both English and French? ” -UNC_Samurai

“ Oh how I miss my Expos ” -uncaian

Set: 1981 Coca-Cola Philadelphia Phillies (Rate)

Card: #6 Bake McBride

“ I have a love/hate thing with local team issues. On one hand, they are incredibly cool to have...but on the other, they can be frustrating to hunt down, especially if you live nowhere near the team. (although that's probably not much an issue anymore, with the internet....but the concept seems to have trailed off in the days of the net) ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Shake n Bake McBride! Good times back then! don't care for the coke symbol though. ” -tonym

“ Who's intrested in seeing some guy's backside? ” -deporcoruña

“ Sounds like a great name for a McDonald's employee. ” -suomibear8

“ Bake McBride at 400°F for 30 minutes or until he scores in the 25th inning. ” -UNC_Samurai

“ Does advertisement like this really pay off? ” -jlaz10

“ I liked 1981 Topps. This set, not as much, but it's still nice ” -Hollywood42

“ AHAHAHAHAHAHH Wake & Bake McBride...who names there child bake??? ” -SaveDaKid

“ Great name Bake. Nice design except for the hat. ” -goldeneye

“ Damn. Looks like the people at Topps were "baked" as well ” -Young Kilo

“ A new item on the McDonald's menu? ” -DanD

“ Logic test: Coca-Cola is headquartered in Atlanta. Atlanta has the Braves. There is no Coke set for the Braves. = Illogical ” -sascards67
