Year: 1977

Set: Topps Star Wars (Rate)

Card: #169 Meeting at the Death Star!

“ Classic. ” -sascards67

“ When Star Wars came out in 1977, it was hugely popular...much more than anyone anticipated. Topps released the standard set, but it was so popular they released 4 more (!) making it the only 5-series set I know of...all in the same year, no less. Some of the images were even pretty much the same. The yellow series is Series 3, of which I only have 2 cards, (so far!) and this is not one of them. My first memory of anything is of watching Star Wars, and for nearly 25 years I believed that my Star Wars cards were my first, only finding out last year that they were the second set in my collection. Although the movies came out before I was born, my brother bought the cards new and gave me his duplicates in 1988, at the same time that I got my first cards, the Bigfoot monster truck cards, thus kicking off a lifetime in the hobby. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ I remember having these cards as a kid, but I don't know what I did with them. Love the the movies there all some of my favorates. ” -deporcoruña

“ I used to have a big yellow metal tonka dumptruck that I used to hold all my star wars cards when I was a kid. Lets just say they would be in better shape if I had used a card box. ” -bplay24

“ Great to see one of these cards hit the random cards of the day. I collected these when I was growing up and still have all my cards. I think a pack of the red set was the first trading cards I ever had and my grandmother bought them for me. Such wonderful memories. ” -koloth42

“ This piece of card can't even deny it's from the 70s. The graphics, the colors are so typical. I've never been a StarWars fan, but this is a nice collectible. ” -xv3thekid

“ I find your lack of faith...disturbing. ” -cynicalbuddha

“ Doesn't compare with the Davy Crockett or Zorro cards of the 1950s. Very dull ” -NJDevils

“ "ok, whose turn was it to bring the beer and chips?" ” -tonym

“ Even though it's Star Wars and there's no Topps markings, I automatically knew it was Topps because of the border. ” -jlaz10

“ Choke him, Vader!! ” -DanD

“ Sorry I'm late, I forgot to change my clock, we built this giant Death Star & I can't get a clock that automatically adjusts itself... ” -SaveDaKid

“ Cool! Star Wars geeks unite! (I'm one of them!) ” -Hollywood42

“ "Fleer will keep them in line. Fleer, and this battlestation." ” -UNC_Samurai
