Year: 1993-94

Set: Upper Deck Special Edition - Electric Court (Rate)

Card: #164 Chris Gatling

“ I never really cared much for this Special Edition issue- the cards always felt greasy, even when you were opening them fresh out of a pack, which I did a few times after I began collecting the NBA in 1996. The Electric Court cards were one-per-pack and were the first parallels Upper Deck ever did for the NBA. The set is also prone the chipping. I enjoyed watching Chris Gatling play, especially when he was with the Nets. Kind of unusual to see him without a headband- it was his trademark. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ The first and one of the few years Upper Deck didn't have a plain white border. I like this set but didn't care for the Electric parallels and I find it lazy when a card company uses the same design for multiple sports. I know most card companies do, but just a pet peeve of mine. ” -davidhandberry

“ Where's the name? ” -Splinter_9

“ Imagine if Joe Montana had one made of him back in the day? ” -hafengr

“ I prefer electric sex in the window (name that movie). ” -carthage44

“ I was never crazy about this Upper Deck layout, in any of the sports they used it for. I used to think it would be cool if companies would use the same design across all sports in a year. Then they started doing it, and I quickly tired of it. Topps still does it with baseball & wrestling, 25 years later. ” -switzr1

“ Good looking card as UD always does. I like the B&W smaller version on the side. It doesn't distract from the beauty of the front. ” -parsley24

“ The look is ok, but this has to get negative marks. Is this design serious? It is bad enough when the same pic is on the front and back, but front and front again? Also, as if the awful gigantic Forward Center stripe isn't bad enough, it appear on the top of the back again. Upper Deck, for someone so good, why did you do this? ” -muskie027

“ I have many of the baseball set with this design, and maybe some football or hockey. My biggest problem with it is the stretched black and white photo which is the same photo as the main picture. Also the foil lettering I can't tell what it says from this scan. Sideways printing is always bad. Back has the stats sidways UGH. Poor design. Not a Warriors fan so I don't know anything about this player. ” -captkirk42

“ When you have the same pic on front and back, that makes for a bad card. When you have the same pic twice on the front, that is just plain dumb. ” -NJDevils

“ If my memory is correct, they named a gun after him. ” -UKboogie

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.
