Random Card of the Day

Year: 2007

Set: Traks - Gold (Rate)

Card: #G17 Jamie McMurray

“ I enjoyed the Traks set when Press Pass brought it back, but I have very little of the 2007 set. The Traks wording and the checkered flag pattern are gold foil, which is hard to tell in scans. I think these parallels were one per pack but I am not 100% sure. 2007 saw Jamie win the Daytona night race in a photo finish. Very exciting finish. It's probably on YouTube. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ I thought this was a Panini card at first, especially with the one year of stats on the back ” -ketchupman36

“ Finally something not soccer! Good solid design, and a Ford driver which is the best kind of car to drive. ” -Doc Floyd

“ Not a racing fan but as far as racing goes I would say this should be a good card. Driver on the front, car on the back. What more could you ask for? I wonder if he is sponsored by Irwin though. I can't figure that out. ” -davidhandberry

“ Not a bad card, reminds me of Donruss. Jamie Mac is Missouri born so I try to collect some of his cards, but have never seen this set. ” -jupiterhill

“ Is there an actual difference between this gold card and the base card other than the part number? ” -OCHawkeye

“ Nice Racing card. At first glance it reminded me of the modern Panini Donruss cards (all sports) with the stripes in the border design. Back looks nice and shows the sexy car. ” -captkirk42

“ Not sure what else would go into a racing card, but it looks cool enough. ” -muskie027

“ Granted I don't collect, nor know much about NASCAR releases, but what makes this "Gold" besides the letter G in front of the card number? ” -rmpaq5

For those wondering, I'm guessing the "gold" difference in this card and the base card is the "Traks" foil down at the bottom. Probably just doesn't show up well in the scan.

And of course, the card number as well.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

I can't get behind racing cards, but this is one of those great, simple, and classic mid-2000s designs.

I explained what makes it gold in the very first comment, LOL. TL;DR?

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.

The Gold parallel was pretty subtle even when paired with a base card (silver foil). But the Red Foil and Holofoil parallels really pop! I still like the design of that entire set all these years later.

HOW did I miss the fact that these were my scans?!!! That is only my 2nd COTD Selection. It's funny that both are Racing cards and neither is a driver that I collect, just cards I have. Maybe I'll get some in other sports soon.

Since this thread came back up, I need to give credit where it's due. I must have looked right through your comment this day Billy!

I'm guessing what happened was that by the time I got to the end of the comments, there were so many wondering the same thing that I forgot your point to begin with.

So, in all fairness, you did beat me to it smiley
