“ This card when I see it with the font and the set up really just screams mid-late 2000's jerseys that the Red players would where and that is what makes this a nice card is how it can almost represent the team in a way, ” -TwinKiller

“ Hot dogs and baseball! The perfect double play combo! ” -Tscastle

“ Pretty much what you'd expect from a good baseball card . . . Decent picture on the front, with unobtrusive presentation of info . . . Unless it's my oversight, I don't see the "Kahn's" logo on the front of the card, making it look nice Basic but it checks all the necessary boxes . . . ” -georgecf

I am interested in the distribution method. Inside the packs of hotdogs would likely mangle the cards.  Affixed to the outside of the packaging would allow people to just pull them off without purchase.  Was it a mail in redemption? Or some other form of distribution?

From the Internets: The Junior Junkie: the Baseball Cards of Ken Griffey, Jr. and Beyond: The Wrath of Kahn's

Kahn’s is a Reds-obsessed meat company based in Cincinnati. Billed as “The Weiner the World Awaited,” Kahn’s probably made a few of the hot dogs your grandparents/parents/you may have eaten in ballparks in the 50’s and 60’s. It seems they also made a number of baseball cards in that time. That’s right – this Ohio meat company was making baseball cards at the same time as a little company called Topps was getting its start.

From the Internets:  Kahn's Baseball Cards Had a 15-Year Run in 1950s, 60s (sportscollectorsdaily.com)

Up until 1961, Kahn’s Wieners cards were only available in packages of hot dogs. That all changed with the 1961 set, though. Containing a record 43-cards, the company made it easier for collectors to get complete sets, making them available via a mail-in offer.  Instead of trading with friends or buying large amounts of product, collectors could now obtain a complete set all at once.

Thanks Hawthorne61.  I knew of Kahn's and the Reds team cards but not the history behind them.
