Year: 1999

Set: UD Choice (Rate)

Card: #16 Calvin Pickering

“ I'm sure the card when in hand doesn't have this affect, but in the scan he almost camouflages into the background like a chameleon. ” -rmpaq5

“ I didn't know they played baseball in the snow. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ I honestly have nothing positive to say about this card. Well, I am positive about that. Nothing is working on this card. Sorry. ” -vrooomed

“ Dull, bland, and boring. ” -Doc Floyd

“ This card strikes me as having been "assembled" in a desktop publishing application by someone who has never attended a baseball game, much less one in which Calvin Pickering participated. What happened to Calvin Pickering anyway?! He tore up double-A, and the Orioles had no particularly noteworthy incumbent at 1B around 2000 (pre-retirement Will Clark, Jeff Conine). How did he not get a good look?? ” -dilemma19

“ OK design everything can be read sort of. Again text should have a clear distinction between upper and lower case lettering. Color for this sub-set of the base cards is awful and dull. Back due to the colors and format also looks awful. What was UD thinking? I think they weren't. ” -captkirk42

“ I remember this guy. He had so much power just couldn't make enough contact. ” -carthage44

“ White uniform against a white background. Even a 5th grader understands the concept of contrast. The whole design, front and back, has no eye appeal. ” -C2Cigars

This is the year that I got back into collecting cards and I bought a box or two of these then.  Got the Gold Starquest version of Ripken in a pack.  Last year of UD Choice.   I'm interested in trading for the Blow Up box toppers if anyone has any.
