hey everyone, I’m looking to make it easy on family and friends and want to send them links to sets and boxes I’m looking for for Christmas.
I’m wondering, where do you all buy your boxes? I’ve purchased a few of the newer releases from Walmart/Target, but what about hobby boxes from the past? Are there any dealers/sites you really like and have had good experience with?

I do most of my shopping online.
There is a new card shop that opened locally that I try to support by purchasing accessories like top loaders and sleeves, but they still wont stock wrestling cards which is the only thing I collect now. I'll keep asking
Steel City Collectables is a good online shop. I'm on their mailing list and they have some good deals here and there.
Other than them, just a constant check on ebay and craigslist mostly!

I've ordered from dacardworld many times, as Billy mentions. They run specials quite often. My other favorite is https://www.steelcitycollectibles.com. I've browsed https://www.blowoutcards.com many times but never actually bought from them. I know many, many collectors do.
For older stuff, check out https://www.bbcexchange.com/. They also run some really nice sales this time of year and their prices are pretty good.
Right now is my favorite time of year to buy, I'll save up all year just to buy on sale. All the big online sites run pretty good sales this time of year.
Good luck,
-Rob

~Rob~ Hockey set collector including inserts, ERR, COR, VAR. Knowledgeable about 1968-69 to 1994-95 hockey. All 1990 and newer cards for trade are NRMT. Expect the same in return. 1989 and older are assigned a grade. Everything on my trade list is available for sale. Reasonable prices based on condition. If it's not on my tradelist, it's not available.

This is exactly why I am so as I found this site. Living in a town that surprisingly has no card/hobby shop for the last 15 years, I have only visited one other card shop that is located in downtown Beckley, WV, where I was born, but since all of my family had passed away up there, I never get to go anymore.
I know the market pretty well and have kept up with it for years but have never been an online shopper so the only places I have to buy cards are Walmart and Target. This will open up the options I can now buy from. Thank you all for your suggestions!

I think my entire Christmas last year was bought by family at DA Card World.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

DA Cardworld is my go-to-first site, but Steel City is also good. There used to be a great store in VA called Big T's, but they closed after the owner passed. Ebay is a good place to get boxes if the shipping prices are right. I have to partially disagree about Kruk's Cards. They are usually overpriced, but they still have better prices than some others. Stay away from Burbank Sportscards and Dean's Cards. They go book value or higher and don't change their prices ever.
Also, have you ever looked into wholesalers or wholesale warehouses in your area? You can get much better prices through them than any hobby store. I buy a lot of my new NASCAR boxes from a wholesaler in NJ, but it's through an individual person I deal with frequently, so I don't know the name of the company.

I have learned a lot of great places that are within a day's drive of me by watching the Jabs Family on YouTube. Erik and his brother visit flea markets, antique stores, auctions, and many more discovering great deals on cards. He particularly likes rookie cards and wax boxes. Erik posts almost daily and has a "Fan Mail Friday" where he exchanges cards with those who send him boxes/packages of cards.
Please check out his site and subscribe. Click the little bell next to Subscribe for notifications to be switched on. Very well-fone programs.
