Family1 here: I bought a Large collection over the weekend. While I was separating it today it looks as if I have maybe 100-120,000 cards. (89- to maybe 01-02 ) 90% has been broken down by year and brand. Any idea on how I should unload these (Trade, Ebay, or ? ) I forgot to mention I also got 30,000 HOF'ers. I would love to hear some of your ideas, Thanks, Wayne !!!

Sorry, I don't collect basketball, but I do have some stuff from your wantlist and you have some for me - check out your transaction page - I proposed a trade a little while ago. Thanks!

Hmmm if selling don't expect too much. The 1990s was smack in the middle of the "Junk Wax" years (aprox. 1984-1998 or so). Apptly named so because there were dozens of companies cranking out not just thousands of each card but by the Millions. Dozens of sets each year and many of the designs were so flashy and tacky they have not stood the test of time well.
Anyway if selling probably best to sell by year/brand/set. Research to see who the big stars, high demand cards are and either pull those out to sell separately or to use as a hook for sale of the set/partial set.
If trading sort by team, or at lest sub-sort each set by team to make it easier to find guys for people.
I"m a Bullets/Wizards guy myself.

When it comes to basketball, 1989-1995 is the junk wax era. I wish 1984-88 was junk wax, would make it a lot easier to find and complete sets.

I was giving an aproximate estimate, over all sports/the industry. So give or take a year or two maybe 3 on either end. I didn't collect much during the mid-90s so I have always been a bit fuzzy when it actually ended.

Essentially, for the season 83-84, 84-85, and 85-86, NBA had no wax packs. Star Co had the exclusive license (not that it was exclusive like today, nobody else wanted it!) for those 3 years because Topps gave it up.

team lots would probably be the way to go
not sure what city you are near, maybe a team lot of the local team could be sold on craigslist or facebook groups locally with no postage if you are willing to take time to meet someone.
the most popular teams (lakers, celtics, bulls, knicks) might sell well on ebay, but lesser teams probably not as much
maybe if you have luck selling locally, you could trade other team lots for the teams that are selling well...
thanks, mark
