I'm just curious if something has changed lately that makes it more difficult for folks in the US to trade with us folks up here in Canada? This morning I received my third trade rejection in the last week where the individual has indicated they are no longer able or willing to trade to Canada. I'm not aware of anything that makes trading to Canada difficult and shipping costs are relative. I've been trading with folks in the US since joining the site and have not had any issues. It just seems that as of late this is changing. I'm REALLY hoping that this is not a sign of how the majority of members feel bc it is going to make trading very difficult and using this site unpleasant.

I go to Ontario on an annual fishing trip and love the place. The people have been great and the landscapes are second to none. I made my first trade to Canada and sent the cards out on 1/4. I used 3 forever stamps for a PWE (usually use one for the states) and my trading partner still has not got it yet and it has not come back to me. I am very sorry for this but I may be hesitant now to do the small trades that I usually make outside the U.S. now. I wish this was a great success story to encourage others to trade with you but that is not the way it worked out for me so far..

Longer delivery times and delays are a product of issues on both sides of the border and are not indicative of negative or bad overall experiences in my opinion. Some trades are still quick and I receive cards in 1-2 weeks and some are taking 30+ days. In the end however, everyone has received the cards and the deal was successful. I don't understand why longer times is scaring people away when even within the US people are experiencing significantly longer delviery times. It's not like the cards are disappearing and never arriving or that they are always damaged or anything like that. It is just slower than usual.

The USPS has been slow wih the mail since the covid shutdown began. Anything leaving the US has been even more slower.
I just sent two PWE trades out to Canada Friday, one to you, I did nto notice any price increases.

I have had a couple of recent PWE trades across the border. Took a little longer, just as domestic packages have been doing, but no other issues. I just sent a PWE to Canada this morning for $1.20.
It could be an issue with some traders' local post offices. One of the three I normally use has one teller who wants a customs form and $10+ package rate for anything with the slightest bit of rigidity, so I don't ship to Canada from there any more. Someone in a small town might only have one post office with one teller and can't get around a similar issue.

I'm unaware of anything causing a drastic change in USPS policy - there has been a domestic price increase, but not on international mail to my knowledge. So all that to say I'm not cutting off trading with friends up north. I just emailed someone yesterday about some matches, and so far in 2021 I've had almost a third of my trades have been with Canadian neighbors.
I believe rejections are from those who insist on sending as a package, and as has been documented on the forum often over the past few years, sending as a package is unnecessary. In fact sending as international mail still gives one a tracking number - it does stop tracking at the border, and Canada assigns its own number.
In general I'd still give 4-8 weeks for the Canadian partner to receive their package.

Even if prices increase (slightly?), it wouldn't deter me from trading (or sending cards) to anyone in Canada. I recently sent out 3 PWEs to Canada, and while I only heard from one person that they got their envelope already, I'm not really worried about the other ones. Package mail here in the US seems to be going much better. I received a couple recently-sent packages in a matter of 3-4 days, 1 was only 2 days (western PA to eastern NY). The smaller PWEs do seem to be taking longer in the system (and it will be interesting to see how the ebay card shipping envelopes get handled). But overall, things are picking up. Delays shouldn't be the reason for people to shy away from a trade or shipping.
I did have one deal fall through with a semi-regular customer in Canada because I delayed in trying to figure out how best to send the stuff. It was only about $20 or so in product, but it was going to cost $10-15 to ship - because of the proper protection. (I still feel bad about that one.)

no idea.. i know rates went up. i've rcvd PIF's from there before, and just sent cpl days ago a 2 card PIF there, bought the $1.20 global stamp to test the waters. I've sent a single card before as a PIF with two Forever stamps and it was good. It may just come down to either an inconvience to some or not a big enough trade to make it worth while.

Nothing to my knowledge. I still trade to Canada, Austrialia and Europe when an offer looks good. Especially when it involves regional stuff that I can't find in the US. I do know that speed is wildy varied on any given mail I have had stuff come from Canada fast as a hiccup or slow as a snail. I think it is just the traders you were dealing with and not a general trend.
