Good Day All -
So new forum member here and probably asking a question that might be somewhere but I'm not savvy enough to find it. Way way back when I was into cards in the 80/90s my friends and I would dutifully add up every card using our Beckets to ensure a "fair" trade. Is there a way to see a summary of the "prices" on the transactions? Now I truly have little concern about the prices in general but I am curious. Thanks in advance.

I don't believe you can get totals for your transactions. I agree it would be nice thing to have so both parties have it on hand when constructing a deal or reviewing it. I'd like it to make sure I'm offering equal or greater value when proposing a trade

There no way to see on here. You just have to check off site. When I propose atrade I remind them that if it seems unfair that they can counter it. I am a set builder and PHILLIES collector and some members I traded with will tell you I sometimes add to what I traded you if I see you need it and I have it. This also allows for errors on my part pulling cards. But then most of what I am trading for are commons.
I have not looked at a price guide in a decade. Cards are like anything bought and sold. If you can't find someone to pay you a $1 for it, then it's not worth a $1.

Robert “It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops. Today, October 2, a Sunday of rain and broken branches and leaf-clogged drains and slick streets, it stopped and summer was gone.” ― A. Bartlett Giamatti robertkimble.us/tradingcards

I agree. That would be a nice addition. But useless for the members who have disabled the pricing function. I use the Beckett marketplace for a rough pricing estimate and then use a notebook. So far so good.

Sadly we want to keep the B word as far as way as possible when talking official pricing options. We do not need any bad things happening here as well. I am guessing that is why you can add values to your collection yourself but to use it in any other official site capacity could possibly cause lawsuits and such. At least that is what I have learned from other members since I came here in 2015.

If you are eager to trade to increase your collection of cards you desire and reduce your doubles load, you will find that most members here do not really look at prices. The prices on this site are too artificial as one exagerated entry will throw off the true price. That is why most have disabled it. Most traders look to trade in the same card era and similar cards. Obviously a Phillie collector will part with a Blue Jay rookie or star card to get what they really want, a Phillie card common or not. They don't ask for a Schmidt RC for a Nelson Liriano card. The trades I have completed are almost all trades that were proposed by the other member. And they all were trades that we could both be happy with; rarely did I counter and usually only if the other member had suggested it so as to make sure I was happy with the trade.
My experience in tradingon this site has been outstanding. I have sent out over 7,000 cards I had doubles of and received back over 5,600 I needed in my sets or player collections.

Okay....sorry. I wasn't aware I used a bad b word. I started using it as a guide when I tried a trade with another member for football cards so I could trade them away. He declined it, so I had to ask what was wrong. He said my end was too lopsided, or too low on value. That's why I said I do what I do, mainly so I don't have that happen again.

Thanks for the replies all. I guess maybe when you are trading 80/90s cards to complete sets it might be less of an issue. Or in my case trading away non-baseball cards less of an issue as well.

Hey Joshua, no need to apologize on the discussion. If you were to ask some other members what Beckett (it's not that BAD lol) has done to sites they used to use, you would understand why, I too use other sites and publications to value my cards but on here value is not as important it seems as collection. I have only done a couple of trades, they were things I had zero interest in owning so as long as something came back in return all was good.

I've made deals with both types (and even with both Joshua825 and sandyrusty) and in each case we were all happy campers. Price was never discussed and one of my deals - I completed two with sandyrusty - even involved a mistake on my part. After owning up to it we had a very cordial addendum to the agreement. With Joshua825 it was basically the same thing without the mistake. It was simply great communication and the standard became obvious: the need being met to the other's satisfaction.
On the other hand I have had to adjust my thought with others with whom price matters, whether using our TCDB median values, or of Them We Do Not Speak Of, and we ended up finding common ground and a deal.
I think if a programming function is not in the offing such as a drop-down menu that stipulates the valuation used in an initial or counter offer, then communication of the standard used is imperative.
Which on a side note: Mark1010, you've come up a few times as a one-way match (meeting my Want needs) and if you see anything to your liking that's available, let me know. We'll deal and use whichever standard you want to use!
