Missed this first time through the system. The "Tiffany" or Glossy sets were nice, but very expensive back when they were released. Good thing for the people who like them, there seem to be very few who like them, so the prices held, or dropped. Generally speaking, these can be had for decent prices, and singles are popping up, which is great for player and team collectors. I always liked the sets, just couldn't afford them back then. If I had been able to, I would have gotten these instead of the regular sets.

Seeing this as Card of the Day just inspired me to upload some more Tiffany.

I've been picking up a lot of Tiffany singles lately for around .25 - .50 apiece.  I'm definitely a fan.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff.  Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I have a couple, the difference is pretty striking compared to the normal stock.

Tiffany weren't printed on the same stock as OPC, they were on the same stock as the Traded sets.  The OPC stock was thin, almost always warped and fairly low quality.  Tiffany were printed on bright white cardstock at Topps factory in Ireland.

Fair enough. I should probably do a little research before hastily posting stuff. My mistake.

Later on they became inserts, didn't they?

Yes, but for Fleer.  By that time, pretty much every Topps card was printed on high grade, white cardstock and was super glossy, so that had become run of the mill.  Fleer actually had to reduce the quality of their base sets back to a matte finish in 1996, 1997 & 2002 in order to create a "special" glossy Tiffany version as an insert.
