 I must have been asleep when this was COTD.  A great concept.  Never knew Beckert played for the Pads.   Will always remember him as a Cubbie.   In an age of good glove no-hit second basemen, Glenn was a really good hitter.   They had a great year in 1969 under Durocher.  Had an 8 game lead in August but in Cub fashion, blew that to finish 8 games behind the Amazin's.    It still amazes that he hit .342 in 1971, 3rd behind Joe Torre's league leading .363 but still a point better than the great Roberto Clemente.
