Random Card of the Day

Year: 1992

Set: Racing Champions Racing Hero's (Rate)

Card: #02583 Dan Gurney

“ Dan Gurney could race and win in anything. He didn't do NASCAR very much, mostly sticking to the track in Riverside California, where he won for 5 consecutive years. Even though this is a NASCAR issue the photo was clearly taken in an Indy car. Most of the cards had a facsimile autograph on the back, but apparently RC could not get Gurney, which is surprising, because he is still alive to this day. The diecast replica this card came with is of his 1969 Mercury. I remember well the day I got it- summer of 1993 in Peekskill NY. I chose it because it was car #121 and I had never seen a three digit car before, little did I know this was one of the hardest cars to find in the Legends series RC did. I have been looking for a sealed copy to hang on my wall for several years, I can't find one; they are usually not available but when one does come up it sells for more than I wish to pay for a duplicate. Getting this one though is such a great memory for me. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Thought this was just one of those promo ad cards you find at displays in stores identifying some kind of product. Either that or part of the packaging for a car model or die-cast car. ” -captkirk42

“ The English teacher in me screams out, "It's NOT a possessive. It should be spelled 'Heroes.'" ” -Dave Sosidka

“ Billy, was this inserted with a die cast car? ” -switzr1

“ Personally, I like this card...thanks for another unusual card Billy! ” -bkklaos

Regarding Heros vs. Hero's...that's what happens when you outsource you card production to a country that does not speak English on a regular basis...in this case China. Of course, based on many of the posts I see on Facebook, proper grammer and spelling is a thing of the past even with people who have English as a first language.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.
