Year: 1995-96

Set: Collector's Choice German I (Rate)

Card: #27 Michael Cage

“ I am still trying to find my international editions...I had the box of them earlier this year, put them someplace with the intent to sort them by language then enter them...and promptly misplaced them. The hazards of having dozens of white card boxes that all look pretty much the same. Would love to see the Cavs wear these uniforms as a throwback. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Like many 90s cards when I first saw this set I thought "UGH HATE IT" (say that in the "Men on" character voices from "IN Living Color") but like many of those sets it did grow on me some. ” -captkirk42

“ Probably my favorite Collectors Choice design. Has any team overhauled the look of their uniforms more times than the Cavaliers? ” -switzr1

“ How hard were these cards to find? Did they release them only in Germany? ” -carthage44

“ Those Cavs jerseys were SWEET. ” -wax_house

“ Pretty good bang for the buck. Two decent action phots, all the stats and at least they have a team logo on the back. I strongly dislike lower case letters. ” -SFC Temple

“ Ah, the 90s in basketball design... ” -jlaz10

They were only officially released in Germany, but many made their way here to the US. You could find boxes of them at card shops and shows for very cheap prices just a couple of years after they came out. I want to say $20 for a box was the norm, but it's been almost 20 years since I got mine so my memory may not be correct. The European issues for Fleer were much harder to find; I only ever saw them at a retail store once...I wish I had gotten more. At the time I tended to view them with disdain, so I only got a handfull  of packs.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.

Don't fret, Billy.   You don't know how many times I had a box of cards in my hands one night and could not find them the next morning.

I really liked those uniforms too! Collector's Choice were a pretty decent looking bargain set for the era.

Hey, Billy! I hope you will come across the ones you do have, because I still have those European cards for trade I messaged you about. I can even get my hands on unopened packs of 1995-96 and 1996-97 Fleer Europeans.

Back in the days every news stand/corner shop sold the 1996-97 CC and Fleer cards. You could even buy them in the school cafateria. The whole school was buzzing with kids trading cards and busting wax looking for Jordans. It lasted about until '99 and by 2000 nobody cared anymore. You know kids.

I'm still looking!

Same way it was here, too. This set came out when I was in 5th grade, and by 9th grade I was the only one of a dozen or more of my friends who were still collecting.
