Year: 1981

Set: Topps (Rate)

Card: #388 Andre Thornton

“ This should be an UER card, because he hit for the cycle in '78, not in '79 as the back of the card states. ” -volbox

“ Love this set ” -SFC Temple

“ Absolutely love this set! ” -bkklaos

“ My favorite set ever. These were the first cards I ever collected. I guess I was 6 at the time, and that was when we lived in Oklahoma. Great memories. ” -switzr1

“ One of the true classics. I dont know much about this player, but really like this card. ” -engine614

“ I like the trivia bit on the back. That's impressive. ” -vrooomed

“ 1981 Topps Baseball is still one of my fave designs. Sometime in the mid 90s I got a little tired of it, but then around 2007/8 when I got back full swing into cards again I lost any hatred I had of it. First glance (due to a bit of the blurring) on this card it looked liked a patch sticker version in the style of the 1972 Fleer Logo stickers and the 1977 Topps "cloth" stickers not the modern GU/relic "Patch" style cards. ” -captkirk42

“ LOVE IT!!! ” -carthage44

“ That's a pretty impressive feat to hit for the cycle, with each hit coming against a different pitcher. I wonder how many other times that's been done in the majors. ” -SaveDaKid

On the disabled list in 1980 and he still gets a card...that's some respect for The Mighty Andre Thornton!

My all-time favorite player, and the best player on some bad teams I was privileged to watch.
