“ Oh Collector's choice. How you bring me back to my youth! ” -carthage44

“ Never really cared for multiple players cards. Especially, the creepy "floating heads" cards of the 1960s. This one has too much; looks crammmed-in, cramped, compressed. Seems more about company logo, fancy banners, facsimile autos, and less about the players photo. ” -C2Cigars

“ I like leaders cards in any era, any brand ” -mzentko

“ I love cards that document things that actually happened the previous year. League leaders, world series recaps, etc. Good card here. ” -switzr1

“ Nice try Upper Deck but this card looks too busy. The overall design is nice but the no borders design doesn't work to well for "leaders" cards. ” -captkirk42

“ Very busy card. Lots going on. ” -maestro

It's not their fault.

So you want to include cards portraying the league leaders in major statistical categories, but then Burkett and Glavine tie for the lead in wins.  Now you're stuck trying to cram both of them, along with the AL wins leader, onto a single card. No wonder it's busy looking!

Good thing Bill Swift didn't win one more game, or they would have had to print some sort of accordian-fold card to deal with a 3-way tie...

I too like cards that highlight significant players from the prior year, milestones, etc.  I agree that at times the cards do run out of space and I think that would of been a great legitimate reason for a modern day variation.  You could have multiple versions of the card but denote on back that three tied for the lead.  I tend to hate the purposeful manufacturing of variations that are part of the regular set almost as much as short prints, but i digress.  My favorite item about these cards was the silver signature as it looked classy without being overdone.

I dont mind 3 or 4 players on the same card but they should be in the picture together with no photo-shopping.   Cramming 3 small cards together on one is just garbage.
