Random Card of the Day

Year: 1994

Set: Collector's Edge - 1st Day Gold (Rate)

Card: #100 Ethan Horton

“ Two Collector's Edge in a row. This one looks much better than yesterday's. Good action photo. Easy to read the name. Team logo looks good. I assume that big thing in the upper left makes it a parallel. Don't care about that aspect of it, but it's a good looking card. I love the picture of the packed Coliseum on the back too. ” -switzr1

“ like the action shot- think the black boxed border can go, would have made the card nicer ” -tonym

“ Great last name! ” -vrooomed

“ Another Raider card!! The Chiefs drafted Ethan Horton as a running back and did not do very well. I remember my Dad saying they need to make him a TE. Well, they cut him and the Raiders did that exact thing. My Dad was not very happy! Is this a serial numbered card? What are those numbers on the back? ” -RoyalChief

“ Not bad for a mid-90s mass production card. ” -koloth42

“ Very colourful, but not terribly informative. I've always had a soft spot for the ultra-wide-angle stadium panorama (but 1992 Topps baseball did it first) ” -dilemma19

“ OK design for junk years 90s except the 1st day logo is TOO BIG. With that black borderline they really should have a solid color border not bleeding the photo to the edge. I think it is OK for the player name and team logo to be big. Back is fair, needs some bio info instead of a stadium picture taking up half the room. What is with the overly large serial number? Yeah they were being edgy alright edgy LARGE. ” -captkirk42

“ Ethan is the hottest Raiders I ever had. ” -dah15

“ A Licensed Collector's Edge card....not something you see every day. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ There is too much going on. The lettering and logo cover too much of the card. ” -biggiofn7

“ Already too many Collector's Edge cards. ” -carthage44

I love how many "graphic designers" are on this site.  Great insight into card design. ;)

Good point. And I'm sure if we got all of those with strong opinions in one room (myself included), we'd never come to an agreeable design for a card. What one person loves, another one despises. (Although I think we ALL agree that 1995 Fleer baseball is terrible.)
