Year: 2013

Set: Topps Heritage (Rate)

Card: #440 Bryce Harper

“ I like the Heritage cards...wish they did them for more than two years in the sport. The back scan is very washed out, whoever scanned it didn't bother to fix it before uploading it. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Like Topps, like the Heritage idea, don't like short prints, especially multiple short prints. I mean "d" really? ” -Kaline6

“ Not my favorite Heritage set but I do enjoy seeing new players in classic card looks and I love the old style feel of these cards. Harper himself seems poised to be the next legend of the game. ” -koloth42

“ Dude is killing it right now. What a talent!! Playing the Royals coming up pretty soon. ” -RoyalChief

“ I am just glad he is on my fantasy team! ” -carthage44

“ One of the currently 50 bazillion SP's that I can never get in packs... ” -suomibear8

“ HOMERIN' HAWPER! Odd thing is I still need this card. Excellent retro cards. Topps did Heritage pretty good using the '64 design, now the years following '65 and '66 they didn't do as well, but they made it up for this year with 2016 using '67 design. This 2013 Heritage was one of the years they did mostly right. ” -captkirk42

“ Love it. ” -wax_house

“ I generally like all the Heritage designs. No exception on this one. Might just be the scan quality on this card but the back gives me a headache. Harper is an amazing talent. Kind of reminds my of Ken Griffey Jr. when I was a kid. If he stays healthy he will accomplish a lot. ” -Mitch

“ I hate the 2013 heritage SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much, but this is clearly one of its bright (er) spots. ” -DarkSide830

“ Definately not a fan of the player or the card. The trophy is way too big for the size of this card. Side note - I traded his rookie card for a Phillies common, just to move it. ” -engine614

The back scan is very washed out, whoever scanned it didn't bother to fix it before uploading it.

What's odd, I got curious and looked at the card page - and the scan there looks fine. I thought I had written about this one, but maybe I started, and stopped. I know I was going to say something negative about there being at least 4 variations of an already short-printed card - which is quite ridiculous. Also, heritage is nice and all, but it is a retread of the card set from 49 years ago each year. Since the 2016s were the 1967 design, this may come as a shock to some but the 2017s (if they do them) will be the 1968 design. Predictable and rather boring. As for the player, one of the best currently playing the game, that's for sure, and there could even be some meaningful discussion about him being the best.

I really like the Heritage sets, for the most part. The short-sprints are overkill, isn't there enough there to push sales with the inserts, and parallels? Turns me off to buying the packs.

Except there's a million inserts in every Topps set. It's way out of hand.
