Card: #17 Turner Ward

“ I thought to myself "that looks like Cracker Jack" and lo and behold, it is. Great regional promo issue! ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Don't even know who he is, but I'd love to have this set! ” -vrooomed

“ Cracker-Jacks border.....now, that is original! And a full color back makes this one a rarity in 188. ” -tbshaw

“ The Cracker Jack around the edges is hilarious!!! ” -carthage44

“ I love it! Is that caramel corn as the border? ” -rmpaq5

“ "Candy coated pop-corn peanuts and a prize!" That's what you get from Cracker Jack and that is what you get from this minor league card from the Super Overproduced late 1980s. Lets search for who the Clippers were affiliated with in '88... Ah The Yankees. Judging by the team logo it could have been Cubs or Indians (which they are currently affiliated with). Nice Police Card. ” -captkirk42

“ Until you turn the card and realize the background to the front is a pile of Cracker Jacks, it's kind of gross. ” -wax_house

“ Nice card. I'd say more, but I suddenly feel the urge to go get a snack. ” -dilemma19

“ Interesting design....I am all of the sudden feeling the need to eat Cracker Jacks.... how can that be? ” -grim25

“ Living in Columbus, I remember this set. I have some of them. I'm actually more curious to read the comments related to the crime prevention tip on the back of this one. ” -Brimose

“ I love it! (And want some Cracker Jack.) I remember him with the Blue Jays. ” -armac

“ Some stats would have been better than no stats and I think the quantity of CrackerJack on the font is a tad overdone. Not a bad card, especially for a minor league promo type set, but not great either. ” -muskie027

I remember going to the game as a kid where this set was a SGA.  One of my first minor league sets.

The Cracker Jacks make this a great card.   Turner Ward was another "can't miss star"  who missed stardom.   He had a decent career,  .251 average but never attained star status like so many "can't misses" before and after him.
