“ Classic American icon. Classic baseball. Classic baseball card. Too bad it's a reprint. ” -jayoneill

“ The gold foil ruins the entire card. ” -carthage44

“ Love it! And the fact that the budget conscious have access to it makes it more appreciated as long as we stay away from eBay hawks treating it as an original. ” -Sportzcommish

“ Never been a huge fan of reprints. ” -kirkscards

“ Great player, great original card, not digging the border on this one. Why mess with the greats. I don't like reprints. Let the originals stand as is!! ” -muskie027

Worst of all reprint/throwback worlds. You want to do a commemorative card of Jackie Robinson? Go for it. Make it original and interesting. You want to commemorate the 1952 set? I suppose go for it. Use modern players in that design. You want to just recreate a card from 1952, confuse people, use a different color on the back, use a different card stock, and slap a gold thing on the front? Maybe you should do something else....

Maybe some people like gold reprints.  I'd prefer a regular-looking reprint.  I have both, but I didn't go on to pursue this insert set.

If they didn't modify it in some way, people would try to pass it off as an original. I've seen people do that with cards that were clearly different from the original too.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.

While I love vintage, I'm growing to really dislike the plethora of vintage-themed issues. The original card is a classic hobby icon. Make it glossy with a coloured border and gold foil and it's just tacky.

Exactly right, Billy. Which is why they shouldn't have made this card at all....
