Year: 1998

Set: SPx Finite - Spectrum (Rate)

Card: #51 Jason Dickson

“ At least it uses 3 different photos instead of repeating one on the back. ” -rmpaq5

“ Good thing they only made 2250 of these. ” -Sportzcommish

“ SPx Finite in 1998-99 was for basketball the first set where every single card was serially numbered. Used the same basic design concept as this baseball set, As a big fan of SN cards, I love that fact. Spectrum is the second level of parallel. Radiance is the first. I don't remember the name of the third and hardest to find parallel because they are 1/1 and I don't have any. Spectrum cards fell one per box in the NBA release. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ I liked the design when the set came out. I remember thinking the holo-embossed logo thing in the middle was really cool. ” -olerud363

“ Decent card design - original if nothing else. A scarce sight at the time, though now more and more Canadians are cracking major league rosters. No need to build a wall, nor will we be winning the WBC anytime soon, but it looks like Canadian development programs have learned a few things from the baseball factory due South. ” -dilemma19

“ Love this set. Every card, even the base cards, are serial numbered. ” -carthage44

“ This is a very cool card and the SPx set is a good set with unique cards! ” -RexRusher23

“ I can't think of anything positive to say about this GU (now "relic") card. ” -captkirk42

“ Can't say it's a pretty card. Looks like the jersey was stitched to the card while it was still on the player's leg. ” -NJDevils

“ I love this set! Design is nice, but I loved the fact that every card was numbered. In fact, the only other set that's numbered that I know of is Topps Stars I think. I still love getting these! ” -Joshua825

“ Nice card! I miss SPx! ” -nubala

“ I wasn't collecting back in 1998, so I have no idea what is going on with this card. Nice back though. ” -muskie027

This is not a relic card. The large area in the middle is actually a seperate part of the card, with the top layer cut away to show it. It's heavily embossed paper there. not fabric.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.

I actually like this card considering the era it was released in.  Everything one could wish for is there - a clear player picture, readable name and team on front, player stats on back, clear and legible card number and a SN that is not impossible to find. Only negative might be the front-center large SPx "crest" which takes away from being the sports card it is supposed to be.

Oops I mistook the foil part for a huge GU patch thing. Still don't like it much.
