Random Card of the Day

Year: 1963

Set: Fleer (Rate)

Card: #8 Carl Yastrzemski

“ Sweet! I love '63 Fleer. ” -trauty

“ My favorite non-Topps set. And no inserts! ” -jayoneill

“ Great player to get from this set. I never really knew this set was out there. It is ok at best. It is cool cause it is old, and has a decent look, but it looks very amateurish. I can see why Topps was in complete control until the 80's. How long did Fleer exist in the 60's? ” -muskie027

“ Not one of my favorites even though I do have the Colt 45s cards on my Want List. Other than that the set is too small and design bland. The angle on Yaz is bad, too. ” -Sportzcommish

“ Yes!! Simple design, love the graphic in the yellow diamond. While there is a lack of full stats, the write up about Yaz and what Ted Williams thinks about his future is awesome. This is a card, and set, that is for the ages! ” -rmpaq5

“ Nice! Good design, great player. This was his first all-star season. His grandson plays in the Orioles organization. ” -IfbBirdsCards

“ Great player, great card! ” -carthage44

“ Nice card. I like it. ” -switzr1

“ This is what RCOTD is all about! Love the vintage cards and Yaz was one of the best! ” -cckeith

“ I'd buy that for a dollar!! ” -DanD

“ Sweet! ” -cjjt

“ Fabulous vintage. Fabulous player. This card is tough to beat. ” -kents_stuff

“ Hard to go wrong here.... ” -tbshaw

“ Classic... ” -rmitchell6700

“ Now THIS is a card I wish I had. However, was never a fan of the design. ” -vrooomed

“ I could do with a smaller cartoon in the corner but a great vintage card! ” -WallyCub

“ Love 1963 Fleer. Love Carl Yastrzemski too! ” -702tpr777

“ Great design.. Maybe on my list of sets to make. ” -parsley24

I love this card.   I love older sets.   But let's be honest, if a minor league team produced this today, we would say it is  pretty bad.

One of the vintage sets many don't know about yet a favourite.Love to get the whole set some day.

I will entertain trades but please don't offer me a 1993 Dave Stieb for a Nolan Ryan rookie.  I prefer player for player (at least similar era and similar stardom).

At least the "2 of you" aren't arguing. Whew.

@NJDevils comment: He's completely on target with that remark ("...if a minor league team produced this today, we would say it is  pretty bad."). If anyone had a back like that, we would blast it. It's not because it was a simpler time, or the technology wasn't there. Topps was doing far better on their card backs 4 or 5 years before this.
