Year: 1986

Set: Topps (Rate)

Card: #302 Greg Coleman

“ 1986...when Topps sets didn't have Walmart Blue parallels. The back of this one scanned really well, but I've always had trouble reading card numbers from this set when holding the card in hand. It might just be a colorblind thing though. ” -switzr1

“ I love the border on this set. Green has always been my favorite color, and it's got pinstripes, which I discovered when creating my chart of top 20 favorite NBA jersey designs, I really like. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ First football set I ever collected and I still LOVE them. Great cards, great backs. Ah, the memories! ” -muskie027

“ I've purchased three wax packs of these in my life and pulled two Jerry Rice RCs, but I never found Coleman. Just my luck. ” -Sportzcommish

“ Vince Coleman's cousin. Cool! ” -trauty

“ So many icnoic football sets from the '80s, but this may claim to the 'Most' title. Since Coleman is a punter, I'll share my mini-rant: I refuse to collect current-day football cards (other than Buffalo Bills, of course) until they acknowledge EVERY position on the field. I'd be like printing a baseball set without relief pitchers or shorstops. Silly. ” -mkaz80

“ I know nothing about football. ” -olerud363

“ Oh, a punter. Shame cards of kickers are not more common... ” -DarkSide830

“ MY FAVORITE FOOTBALL SET OF ALL-TIME!!! So Many great rookies: Jerry Rice, Steve Young, Reggie White, Bruce Smith, Andre Reed, Boomer Esiason, Bernie Kosar, Gary Clark, William Perry... ” -carthage44

“ Never one of my favorite sets, decent punter however. ” -JoshReese92099

“ OK, so I must have stopped buying football the year prior to this. I think I would remember that green and white thing. I don't think it would bother me if the stripes were evenly spaced like they are on a football field. But this just looks like it was done really sloppily. ” -kents_stuff

“ Ahhhh 1980s cards. Over produced. But something charming about them. I hate this design, but at least it was unique. ” -cjjt

“ Don't ask me why but as bad as it is, I like this set. ” -NJDevils

“ This design is one of the classics. Topps football designs in the 80s were far superior to their baseball designs, IMO. ” -beansballcardblog

“ "Which way did he go George, which way did he go?" ” -YoRicha

“ Maybe the easiest job in America, the punter on a football team. ” -rmitchell6700

“ Good to see a real 1986 Topps card not one of the archives or reprinted ones. I have always loved the football field border for these. Back when Topps was still doing things right. Except with the beginning of the overproduced years. ” -captkirk42

“ god awful design. ” -parsley24

Of all punters in the history of the NFL, I don't think anybody else was as effective at drawing a running into the kicker penalty.

I have to go with NBA coach,   "Okay guys, here's the plan, put the ball in the metal round thing with the net under it".
