“ No state was impacted more by Major League Baseball’s decision to reduce the number of its affiliates than West Virginia. The Power are now in the independent Atlantic League as the Charleston Dirty Birds. The West Virginia Black Bears, who play in a beautiful new park in Morgantown, had been a Pirates affiliate in the New York-Penn League. Now they’re relegated to the MLB Draft League. The other two teams, from the Appalachian League, Bluefield and Princeton, were relegated to collegiate summer leagues, one step above high school ball. Thanks, Rob Manfred. ” -Dave Sosidka
